From the moment we saw the island until the minute we left, we thought we were in Paradise! Every single person we encountered at the Resort was very friendly and pleasant. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, with internet service and every other comfort of home. The meals were delicious and included in our package. As we ended the trip and were walking down the sidewalk to check out, the housekeeper who was cleaning our room knocked on the window and waved good-bye.

“Excellent staff, property a little worn”

I very much enjoyed my trip here but concur with other reviewers that the property it a bit worn. When comparing it to a Four Seasons in the United States, you must adjust your expectations a bit. It is a destination resort for corporations and large groups (the resort is the largest employer on the island and is huge). Due to this, you will find quite a bit more variety in the kinds of guests that visit as compared to a Four Seasons in the States (i.e. often a rowdier and more boisterous crowd than the guests at a Four Seasons in the U.S.) The resort appears to have been built in the late 1980's. The rooms are adequately furnished but not what I would nornally expect for a Four Seasons. This did not bother me that much because I knew what to expect on arrival after reading reviews here. We ate at all three restaurants and felt like the food was good but not stellar. We both agreed that we like the Italian restaurant, Neve the best. We ate at Coconut Grove outside of the resort and weren't impressed with the food (they do have an excellent wine list). We used the fitness room and it had everything that we needed but we felt like it should probably be larger to accomodate all of the guests in high season. If you are sensitive to noise, bring a white noise machine as there are thousands of tree frogs that will seranade you (and possibly keep you awake at night). They start chirping at 8 PM and don't stop until 4 AM in the morning. I spent a few nights with the piilow over my head and had a sore right arm at the end of vacation from trying to keep the pillow covering my head. I suspect that it is difficult to maintain the property and keep it in pristine condition due to the moist climate. For me, the staff here stood out as among some of the friendliest and most helpful of any of the resorts I have visited and the staff might compel me to return. One note about air travel - we felt like connecting through Puerto Rico as opposed to Miami was much more manageable via American Eagle. The airport in Puerto Rico was not as crowded or hectic as Miami and we did not experience delays like we usually seem to in Miami. We bought duty free Vodka and Rum to take into Nevis which saved us quite a bit on our bar bill. I would return to the resort but would not pay the rates that they can command in high season as I don't perceive that the price/value ratio to be worth it. I would prefer a more intimate setting and would choose a smaller resort in high season. I prefer the Four Seasons at Great Exuma in terms of value. I also felt like the guests are Great Exuma were more respectful, quiet and calm as compared to some of the guests at the Nevis resort (i.e. not nearly the amount of corporate guests at Exuma).

“Lovely but Expensive”

Just got back from FS Nevis with my husband and 10 year old son. After passing through immigration, we were promptly met by a FS rep who already had our luggage on a cart. Then we proceeded outside to be transfered to the hotel by taxi. We were greeted by another rep who offered us cold bottles of water.

The ride to the hotel was about 10-15 minutes. Once we entered the lobby, we were greeted by another rep who offered us rum punch and assisted us with check in. She went over some basics with us and escorted us to our room/cottage.

The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. The main building was nicely designed, but the exterior of the cottages in my opinion, not up to Four Seasons standards. The interior (room) was nicely appointed, nice size, and wonderful bathroom. Housekeeping was wonderful, twice a day, always had sufficient towels, soap, shampoo, bottle water for the evening, etc...

Tried all 3 restaurants on the hotel property. Neve for breakfast was fine (definitely recommend that you purchase your room with breakfast, it is quite expensive), but very bland for dinner. The Dining Room was okay, nothing to rave about. The best was Mango's. Off the property, we tried Nisbet Plantation for dinner. On that particular day, they had their beach barbecue. Definitely not worth the money, the food and service was mediocre. We also tried Bananas, which was good.

The hotel has 3 pools. (family pool, adults only pool, and a quite pool) We were told to choose a spot and the same location would be allocated to us for the rest of our stay. Needless to stay that was not the case, it was definitely first come, first serve. We didn't mind because there were plenty of chairs. The beach was nice, but doesn't compare to Turks and Caicos or Anguilla.

Everything costs in this hotel cost and it is very expensive. My son rented a little power boat with a water gun and it costs $30 for 15 minutes. Very few things were complimentary. Internet for a day - $15. Hagaan Daz ice cream bar including service and tax was close to $10.

The FS souvenir shop had a nice selection of t-shirts, caps, etc... In my opinion, it is not worth going into Charlestown to buy souvenirs. The 3 three main stores had very limited selections.
If you have an urge to shop, take the complimentary shuttle to St. Kitts.

The Kid's club was not well organized and poorly runned. If fact, I never saw anyone coming around trying to promote the club or to recruit kids for activities. There were plenty of kids at the resort.

Overall, the staff was very nice and attentive. A couple of times, we were walking to Mango's for dinner and got lost in the villas. On both ocassions, we were offered rides to Mango's on a golf cart. I thought that was very nice touch.

Important: Bring and use insect repellant. It's pretty bad, especially after sunset.

“Great Low Risk Family Vacation”

Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies

2 May 2008

My family was looking for a no-risk carribean vacation for the our kids spring break. After looking at lots of reviews, we decided to spend a little extra and go with the brand we trusted. We weren't disappointed. We are an active family of 5 - kids ages 8, 6, 4. We booked a villa after reading about it on tripadvisor. It was much better than two connecting hotel rooms. We had 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and living room, washer and dryer (really used them), a huge outside screened in porch that was like another living area and my kids favorite, the plunge pool.

The staff and facilities were what you would expect from a four seasons. The food was good, not great. We purchased the breakfast plan before going, which was a mistake. We could have bought our breakfast buffets each day for less than the breakfast plan. We used much of the provided non-motorized equipment -- the boogie boards, hobie cats, sand toys etc... All was in good condition.

My kids loved hte monkey excursion with Lemmie. You climb up to an old ruined sugar mill, and see tons of monkeys in their natural environment. Lemmie has made friends with a whole troop of them that allows you to get real close. That was truly a unique experience.

Overall, great experience. I imagine we could have had as good an experience somewhere else for less, but with four seasons, we knew we weren't risking it. Bring lots of US dollars - hard to get them on the island and everything is priced US.

I just stayed at the Four Seasons at Nevis and had a great time. The staff was professional and helpful, the hotel was clean, the food was good and the overall service was excellent. I would suggest to honeymooners. There were a lot of families with children there, but I did not seem overwhelmed with the number of children, which was nice.
