Go to the Four Seaons at Nevis if you truly want a relaxing experience. This place is more about relaxing than nightlife or shopping, which there is little of either, making it the perfect choice for us. It is on the calmest carribean side beach on the island, the prices were reasonable for food and activities (we were there in the off season so the room was very reasonable too). The hotel staff is EXTREMELY pleasant and very very helpful. Like any place, you run into a few people here and there that are there just to work, but the hotel staffs over 700 workers, so that can be expected. The swimming areas are protected, and I was never on the beach more than 3 minutes without getting attention from staff members to help me set up my chairs and umbrella. I'm not a pool type, but they always looked clean and well staffed. We saw children, but very few. The resort was pretty full while we were there, and there was even a corporate event going on, but since the resort is so large, we were never bothered by this and were always able to make reservations and participate in activities when we wanted. We did a Kayak tour and the tour guide was wonderful, we also did their catamaran sail that was arranged through the hotel which I highly recommend, especially for first time snorkelers, the snorkeling wasn't top notch, but it was in calm waters, and the crew on this ride were very entertaining and friendly. We went off the resort for 2 dinners, one to 1787, got there early and took in the beautiful sunset, and the other to Nisbet which had wonderful food. This would be a good vacation for those who want to spend their entire time at the resort, which could easily be done, or for those who like to get out a little, there are a few things to see, plenty of places to eat, and lots of different types of tours that can be arranged through the hotel (ie bike, horseback, kayak or car). Our room was cleaned once a day and also turn down service at night, they kept us stocked with coffee, water and ice. My only real complaint would be the crickets that chirp throughout the night, and there's nothing the hotel can do about that! They are very loud, and very audilbe through the walls, bring nice ear plugs or a fan or something if you are a light sleeper, I had to sleep with a pillow over my head every night.
