We just returned from our son's wedding on St Croix. The second night we were there, we hosted a sunset cruise and the captain of the "Jolly Mon" walked us to Savant afterwards for a memorable meal. The place is very small, but very cool. It came highly recommended by a masseuse at The Buccaneer. 13 of our wedding group went and everyone seemed to love it. My husband and the mother of the bride both ordered the curried chicken at a hotness of 6 out ot 10. The mother of the bride said that she could go 1 up higher for the heat. Another favorite was the stuffed filet! After the meal we asked for coffee. The waiter brought out a little wooden stand for each of us with a small stainless pitcher of very hot water. The faster you pour, the weaker your coffee. Some of us ran it through twice and it was delicious. I am going to attach a few photos inside the restaurant including the coffee thing! Many of the good restaurants on St Croix are not much to look at from the outside, but suprises await inside.

We took our family to Savants for dinner during our Thanksgiving visit in November 2008. It was our third visit to the restaurant and out of all the meals we had during the week we spent on St. Croix, the family voted Savant's the best food and dining atmosphere.

Had the Mahi Mahi, It was good but definitely not worth $35 ala carte. however the place has a very unique setting.

My husband and I read a review on Frommers and thought we would give Savant a try. Everyone of our items were a waste of time. We had a "vegetable spring roll" that only raw julienned vegetables inside of rice paper. No seasoning on the vegetables, just really unapplealing sauces. The other appetizer was the filet splif, yea right! It was the stinkiest seaweed, tons of rice a the smallest niblet of filet for $15. Then we had a salad with poached pears, gorgonzola, walnuts & "mixed greens". The pears were poached in spices that belong on a thanksgiving dinner table and there was little of the other toppings. The "mixed greens" were wilted and mixed with old romaine. Still we had hope for our entrees(both red and green curry). The red curry was OK, but the green curry was described as a more sweet curry with coconut milk. That was a farce because there was more heavy cream that coconut milk. Not to mention that we waited forever for our appetizers and there was only 2 other tables in the restaurant. My husband and I work in the food service industry and understand it from the other side of the line but this experience was just plain horrible. Both of us couldn't wait to get out of there. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
