On a recent rip to St. Croix, it was once gain a pleasure to dine at Savant. I enjoyed the calamari to start and was equally pleased with the pork chop for my main course. The service was good and enjoyed the interesting wine list.

I chatted with manager Cheryl at the bar and enjoyed her menu choices along with what was going on around the island.

Topped off with a cognac in the rear courtyard. Great night!

I love this place! Each time I visit that island this is the only place I keep going back to. The place is a jewel. The food is awesome, creative, fresh! My personal favorite is the octopus that is grilled to perfection. That with a chilled glass of Pinot Blanc = heaven. All of the seafood entrees are delicious. The Mahi-mahi and the watermelon chutney is to die for. So is the fillet mignon. This place is all about special sauces. The interior atmosphere seems to be derivative from its architecture, quirky, unassuming and very very cool. The back courtyard is a hidden paradise and hosts the best bar in STX. I’ve had many good nights at that outdoor bar talking, eating and drinking with the locals. Oh yeah … the locals… it seems to be the restaurant of their choice.

I’ve eaten there solo and I’ve eaten there with 10 people. The service has been excellent every time.

I really don’t get the former bad reviews one bit. I find Savant to be the only inspired restaurant on St. Croix. The fundamentals in any decent restaurant have to be great or it’s not worth the visit. Savant passes with an A+ on Fundamentals and Integrity.

We just returned from our son's wedding on St Croix. The second night we were there, we hosted a sunset cruise and the captain of the "Jolly Mon" walked us to Savant afterwards for a memorable meal. The place is very small, but very cool. It came highly recommended by a masseuse at The Buccaneer. 13 of our wedding group went and everyone seemed to love it. My husband and the mother of the bride both ordered the curried chicken at a hotness of 6 out ot 10. The mother of the bride said that she could go 1 up higher for the heat. Another favorite was the stuffed filet! After the meal we asked for coffee. The waiter brought out a little wooden stand for each of us with a small stainless pitcher of very hot water. The faster you pour, the weaker your coffee. Some of us ran it through twice and it was delicious. I am going to attach a few photos inside the restaurant including the coffee thing! Many of the good restaurants on St Croix are not much to look at from the outside, but suprises await inside.

We took our family to Savants for dinner during our Thanksgiving visit in November 2008. It was our third visit to the restaurant and out of all the meals we had during the week we spent on St. Croix, the family voted Savant's the best food and dining atmosphere.
