What a wonderful, relaxing place for a luxurious get away! The Buccaneer offers everything I could possibly want in a resort - fabulous views, beautiful beaches, friendly and courteous service, engaging staff, wonderful food, a spa for pampering and accomodations to die for!

The Dubloons at The Buccaneer are incredible! Taking a look online, one can see how elegant they are, with gorgeous furnishings and spacious rooms. I highly recommend them.

And be sure to visit both Christiansted and Fredricksted, expecting to soak up the local culture, visit the forts, and requent the many interesting shops in Christiansted. (Don't miss Island Boy Designs for local jewelry. His work is fabulous!) Also, don't miss the welcome tour by General Manager, Elizabeth Armstrong - it's fascinating. And be sure to make time for a trip to Buck Island for amazing snorkling.

I can't recommend The Buccaneer highly enough - it's a place you'll want to come back to again and again, hooked by the friendliness, luxury, beauty, and history.

I travel to St Croix twice a year on business and The Buccaneer is the only place I stay! Let me tell you about my most recent experience and you will see exactly why!

Wednesday, October 28, 2009:
I went to dinner tonight around 6:30. This time I went into the main restaurant. Everyone I came into contact with did a great job with one person in particular who is outstanding - Sarah, my server in the restaurant!

First, as I was crossing the lobby area Larry (the bartender) came hurrying through and actually took the time to stop and greet me and ask how I was tonight! I was impressed! He could have just kept hurrying through, another employee on the run for something but he actually took the time to greet me - that was great! This is not unusual. All of The Buccaneer employees are so friendly and courteous.

I next met Deborah at the host/hostess desk. She introduced herself, seated me, showed me the 'world class' wine list, brought me water, pointed out the specials on the menu and told me that Sarah would be serving me. Before she left she again told me her name and told me not to hesitate to call on her if I needed anything. VERY NICE LADY!!!

OK - now my all time favorite - Sarah! This girl is a true treasure! She is the epitome of professionalism. Just the right blend of friendliness and professionalism. She helped me with wine selection, told me about the specials, checked with the chef about some dishes due to my dietary issues, checked back frequently, told me about the desserts (no, I didn't indulge!) AND went well above and beyond when I ordered a decaf coffee to take back to my room. There were no 'to go' cups but rather than hand me a mug to slosh around on the way to my room she told me that she would bring the coffee to my room - which she did about 5 minutes later!!! Sarah provides the type of service that I think people would expect from The Buccaneer! I will always ask for her when I return. What a treat :)

Quinton stopped by to introduced himself as the restaurant manager and actually shook my hand. I was impressed! He also delivered my salad and checked back with me a few times. Very nice touch!

Last but certainly not least is Debbie at the front desk. She was working during the day today and she has the best smile and is sooooo pleasant and helpful - she just makes one feel very special. She cut my boarding passes out for me and scheduled transportation to the airport. Nice, nice person!

If you haven't stayed at The Buccaneer, you are missing one of St. Croix's true treasures!

All in all, another great stay!!! I can't wait to return next April!

I have been to St. Croix countless times, and I always stay at The Buccaneer. The luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere along with the friendly and efficient service keep me coming back year after year. I have to give credit to the management, because they continue to improve on a great thing.

There is a new award winning chef at the Terrace Restaurant who has taken the evening dining to new heights that match the breathtaking views at sunset. The recently completed renovations along with the updated decor have refreshed the lobby, restaurant, and rooms without taking away from the old world charm and historical feel of the property.

Finally, I discovered The Buccaneer because of the Coral Reef Swim Race that the hotel hosts every year in October. This year makes my 6th year in a row of participation. All of the proceeds of this amazing event go to the local Nature Conservancy to help protect the beautiful reefs that surround the island. Both a 2 mile and a 5 mile swim are offered. The water is warm and the views both in the water and out are incredible. I recommend this race to anyone who has ever been interested in ocean swimming. It is a competitive race that draws both elite athletes and novices alike. It is a great "first timers" swim, because of the warm water and the well organized instruction along with great volunteers. What could be better than a fun and challenging goal that will improve your health and fitness and ends with a great vacation? Hope to see you there next year!

I traveled to the Buccaneer in Feb of '08. It looked like a great hotel and i was pretty pleased with it. The beach was ok--pretty rocky and there was a lot of seaweed, but there were also a few pelicans that were flying around and were pretty entertaining. The golf coarse looked nice but i did not get a chance to play it. We stayed in two adjoining ocean front rooms and that worked out great. They were right next to the Grotto pool area and a beach. The downside of the rooms was that the patio was right next to a walkway so it was hard to get privacy, and there was also a cat that we found sleeping on the patio a few times. The worst part of the Buccaneer was that it wasn't really different from home. I live in the Boston, MA area, and there were three families there--one of which my kids are friends with--that were from the same town that i live in. That part really killed the whole mood of getting away from home. We went on a snorkeling trip to Buck Island--a great idea, the snorkeling is AMAZING--and the boat picked us up at the dock at the hotel. We were the only people on the trip so it was very personal. The scary thing was that there was only one way into the island because of reefs, but that was easily commanded by the captain. Also, we found ourselves surrounded by six barracuda. That had to be one of the scariest times i have ever had on a vacation. They didn't do anything other than watch us, but that was creepy in itself. Overall, the Buccaneer was a good hotel, if you don't mind waiting 15-30 minutes for the taxi or if you can find a parking space by your room for your car. We had the driver nicknamed "007" and he was very friendly and very helpful. We did see a forest fire during our trip so be wary of that. It would have been a great vacation if the hotel had not been so hilly and if there was room service. The restaurant was great.

I just got back from The Buccaneer where I stayed a week with my wife and it was fantastic. The rooms are big and beautiful, the property has great views, and there is an awesome new chef at the Terrace restaurant. I recommend trying the black garlic cheesecake appetizer and fresh mango ice cream.

The staff was friendly and professional, upholding everything that we had heard about this wonderful hotel.

Wil definitely be going back!
