This resort was chosen as a last minute for my family (2 kids) and we were most pleased with our selection. I was a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews but our experience was the exact opposite. I admit there were problems with the initial reservation that was made from mainland central reservations but this was resolved prior to our arrival. We couldn't have been more satisfied. This review is lengthy in that every one's experience is different and I would like to give what I feel is a realistic view of the resort.
I am a world traveller,I practically live in hotel rooms and on airplanes. I realize that things happen that are beyond our control & we all must realize that the world we live in is not perfect. I take necessary precautions to ensure my experiences are positive for my loved ones and friends, especially when travelling to islands or foreign countries.
Upon arrival in St. Thomas we rented a car- a suggestion if you are on a budget and are adventurous. Taxi fare from hotel as well as excursions add up quickly. Prior to arrival, you can use internet to determine distance to destinations and expected costs.
There was a convention being held at hotel, but never was resort too crowded when we chose to go to pool or other common areas. I was upset when attempting to watch the NBA playoffs because guests wanted to crowd the bar area <good for hotel, but not for me:-)> Seriously, it was a fun atmosphere even though San Antonio lost...
The gift shop had an excellent deli with selections that were child friendly, as well as reasonably priced beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic), snacks, sandwiches and other sundries. There was a refrigerator in our room (not just a minibar) If you do not mind preparing your adult beverages, I would suggest stopping at duty free before you leave the airport (it is permitted to be purchased upon arrival) especially, if you will not have transportation. Honorable mention to Sarah in the Gift shop, who was great with my kids and information about the Island.
Our room was in the Sea Cliff towers on a high floor which enabled a great view. We were able to Watch the ships go by from our balcony. The steps leading from the beach were not that bad-If you chose not to walk the steps, there was a boardwalk leading to the main building as well, of which you could take an elevator to the top level or you could opt to take the elevators in the sea cliff tower. Can't tell you much about the complimentary shuttle as We never used it.
The manager's reception was a nice touch if you are there during the week. It is Wonderful to speak with the GM about any concerns, In my opinion this was a Very warm, hospitable group of employees. My encounters were well received and with respect. I believe that if you treat people in a manner in which you choose to be treated, it comes back to you twofold.
Any requests that were made, were handled in a timely fashion. Extra Towel requests, Additional amenities and maintenance requests (battery replacement in remote).
I would suggest you Explore the property upon arrival, and determine where you want to spend your time. Of The 4 pools, we spent more time at the infinity and the Morningstar pool. The beach is a private beach of which I love. There is complimentary equipment for watersports for your use. The sundeck is not to be missed w/ the gazebos and observation decks throughout the property. We did not use the spa, gym or tennis courts as we explored much of the island by car during the day I saw many guests using the hills for running as they were very steep and when asked i was told that it was a great workout (from triathletes). Next visit I may not use my vacation time for relaxation and exert a bit more energy. I admit this was the most relaxing vacation i have ever had WITH my kids.
We only dined twice at the hotel and food was mediocre. My kids enjoyed their meals more than I did. Mac and cheese and chicken tenders. Fish tacos were great at Coco Joes's.
You can't go wrong with breakfast on an island-fruit and pastries.
A big plus is complimentary internet access throughout the property and FREE parking. Overall, our biggest complaint is that we had to return home. However, I am already planning a trip with my girlfriends....It has been three weeks since our vacation and my daughter is asking when "we" are scheduling our next trip...LOL
Also Front Desk Clerk Joelyn was a great help in resolving my pblm with reservation. It was reassuring to know upon arrival that the person that answered the phone when I called to check confirmation at the resort was actually working the front desk and not an operator!
Anxiously anticipating my next visit!

Thank you for your excellent review. I particularly appreciate your tip, “I would suggest you Explore the property upon arrival, and determine where you want to spend your time”. Great advice and I would add to that, stop at the concierge desk and explore all your options for island adventure as well. There is something for everyone here! We will be sure to recognize Sara and Joelyn for their responsiveness and efficiency. Lastly, please give the resort a call ahead of your next trip you’re planning so we can greet you as a returning guest. Looking at your photos, I can see your family had a great time!
