Ah, Graycliff. Never mind that lesser cigar place next door. This beautiful, romantic and historical hotel and restaurant offers the ultimate in dining experience and ambiance. I had the pleasure of dining in this fabulous restaurant which has its guests sit in the other era elegant salon while you order your meal. My dinner was fabulous, I mean melt in your mouth fabulous. The presentation, preparation and cuisine was the ultimate in sophisticated island dining. I think one would have to be a special person to truly appreciate this place's somewhat faded, but elegant classicism. What a wonderful jewel of a restaurant and hotel. You could do far worse than this unique and debonair establishement. Hey, it was good enough for Winston Churchill, so why not try it?

The best hotel that I have stayed in in the Bahamas (out of about 10)

Ideal location for town centre but secluded gardens with large pools ensure a tranquil environment.

Service is as fast as you would expect in the Bahamas but the quality and attitude of the staff was first class.

Room was very well furnished and clean. Public areas are stunning.

What can I say?! We happened to find this wonderful place by accident and it was the highlight of our vacation. This hotel and restaurant is among some ruined houses in the middle of the Bahamas capital city, Nassau. But don't give up. Get up the hill and you will find this wonderful jewel, such a paradise. It is an elegantly renovated 260 year old British Colonial style grand estate with an impressive restaurant and a beautiful garden with pools. It is a mixture of beautiful surroundings, architectural details, and rooms filled with antiques. Gives you a total escape from today's busy world. We enjoyed the pace and the style of the times gone by. It is like staying at your super classy friend's house in the 20's! You can start your day with a breakfast in the garden and call it a day listening live jazz in the living room / bar. Perfect for couples who love history since this place really has a story to tell. Not perhaps for people with small kids since this is a place where you should give other people privacy, too. No elevators and a lot of stairs so not easy for disabled. A perfect place for connoisseurs. Fine dining and an impressive selection of wines, as well. If you love cigars, you are going to like this place since they have their own cigar factory next door!

This place has seen better days, much better. The staff is pretty disorganized, although they try to keep the place together. Clearly the place needs a serious infusion of cash and has been neglected for years. The "suite" I had was ok, but filled with ugly furniture and fake plants, the toilet didnt work well, no hot water in the shower (although the jacuzzi worked well), quite a lot of noise from parties downstairs, etc. Absurdly overpriced as is everything in the Bahamas. Th eonly good thing was the pool, which was largely deserted. The "gym" was outdated about 20 years ago...I never tried the absurdly expensive dining room, except for breakfast (which was also overpriced).

We went to Graycliff based on the repuation of the food, wine cellar, and cigars. All of them were wonderful! If you are a lover of wine, ask for a tour of the wine cellar. Amazing!

The owners are such characters - stop to chat with them when you are there. They are very hands-on, and have lived there for ages.
