If you like to mingle with the locals, experience the true Bahamas, not the plastic sanitized version, you'll feel right at home. Sure you have to walk a bit, 5 minutes to the bus #10, 10 minutes to the beach, but if you ask for the effeciency, you'll get a stove and fridge and can trot over to the small conveniece store and lay in supplies. Don't forget to ask for the free wings when you buy 3 beers at the on site bar. You can always join the tourists at any of the large hotels and wine and dine pool side if you want. Get the owners to hook you up with some locals for site seeing, and you'll get off the beaten path and discover wonderful treasures.

I can't imagine this place being any worse of a hotel. First of all, the hotel is off the main road, like a couple blocks down. (Walking it, I was scared for my life). The door to the room did not close all the way, let alone lock. There were bugs everywhere, the TV buttons were broken so you couldn't even change the channels. The people at the front desk were rude and unhelpful. There was a wild dog running around, not to mention locals all throughout the place (that didn't seem to work there, but were just hanging out). The bathroom was the worst I have ever seen in my life. I probably would have found a cleaner one at a campground site in the U.S.! I had huge problems using the phones, and the sheets on my bed looked dirty and did not even go down to the end of the mattress!

As a recommendation in general to people traveling to the Bahamas, do NOT cheap out on the hotel. I know it's expensive, but staying in a cheap place in the Bahamas is NOT like staying in a cheap place in the U.S. This is like a Third-World Country. Spend the extra money, it's so worth it!

This just may be the place for you if.... - you like spiders and bugs of all kinds in your room, your bed and lurking in the bathroom - you like the true feeling of the Bahamas by sleeping with no air condition, and no way to control the temperature in your own room - you like having rotten egg breath and body parfume from the sulfur water - you like being really surprised by the difference in appearances on the internet and in real person - you like being kept awake by barking stray dogs outside your room, people fighting or partying all night long - you like a nice thick film floating on top of your swimming pool!
** If you like these things - you will have a GREAT time! **

I like to say that this is a really neat place, For the price. You get a Jacuzzi in your room and you can go to the out door bar for drinks and a midnight swin. It's just a walk up the road to the club the ZOO and You can eat breakfast for $4.00. I stayed there with my husband. We flew over on a whim and we asked the taxi cab driver where we could stay that was close to the FISH MARKET "Conch Salad" OhhYeah. You can walk to the famous Goldie's for a Kalik and fresh conch. We ended up staying for 5 days. We had a blast. No bad for the prices. Besides, Half the time we were out partying with the locals. It was wonderful and I can't wait to go again.
