Having read all the reviews here, I can't really see what the negatives were. It is a quaint hotel in a stunning location within 30 seconds walk from the beach but on a private calming lagoon! It's truly a unique hotel. Yes of course the Atlantis is going to have more things to do, that's because its 10 times the amount per night and you are a number not a guest. We found the staff thoroughly friendly, eager to help and the location of the hotel is superb. Easy access to the beach and restaurants and part of a beautifully designed development. 10/10 Sandyport!!!

We spent our honeymoon at the Sandyport and it was fantastic! It was clean and comfortable. We had rain for a couple of days and we didn't mind just staying in our condo. Having a full kitchen was a great bonus! I would recommend it to anyone and have! We even went to the big fancy hotel that is so popular to see what the fuss was about and it only made us love the Sandyport more.
The staff was so nice and helpful. They have a beautiful private beach and a great pool. I will go back and I will stay at the Sandyport.

“A little too quiet and not like the website”

Sandyport resort was anything but exciting! My wife and I went on our honeymoon in the middle of June 2007 to Sandyport resort. The website promised a relaxed and fun environment close to shopping and nightlife. June is the start of hurricane season FYI!! It did happen to rain every day we were in the Bahamas. The hotel looked promising but we didnt have any air for 3 days and we complained every day and we were promised it would be fixed or get another room. On day 4 we were ready to leave and go back home but gave them one more chance. We got a new room but door key lock would not work so I had to climb in the patio door to unlock it. Please spend a little more and get a nicer hotel if you are on a honeymoon!

“we liked it”

My wife and I stayed there for our honeymoon. It ended up being perfect for us.
Yes, it is quiet around the resort, but that's the way it is advertised.
The minute that we needed something, the front desk was able to accomidate us. It sounds like the people writing these reviews need to relax a little bit. Things in the Bahamas happen at a little slower of a pace. Realize that before you go there. This isn't NYC. You're on vacation, stop worrying about everything, and enjoy yourself.
We liked that we were 20 minutes away from all of the hustle and bustle. We'd spend half of the day downtown and then come back to the room , relax, eat at the AWESOME oyster bar on site, and then sit on our balcony overlooking the water, and not have to worry about kids screaming or running down a hallway, like at many places you stay.
I highly recommend Sandyport. It was a class act place .
One thing I will say, DON'T USE THE TAXI DRIVER THEY RECCOMEND. His name is Mr."something". He was a complete jerk to us 2 times, and made us feel very uncomfortable, not unsafe, but uneasy. The people in the bahamas are all very friendly, and this guy is a real JERK!!!!!
Do not use him. I know that the guidlines for the reviews say "no personal insults", but I feel this is very important.
He is not an employee of the resort, but he is around enough to make an impression on the resort itself.
Don't use him and you'll love Sandyport.

“OK but Too Quiet”

Sandyport Beach Resort

Read "zoombie's" review, pretty much got it all that I would say. This is not really a place for young people, as during my stay I did not find any young people there. Stayed at a timeshare, had a nice 3-bedroom condo right by the pools, so that was a plus. They have a beach with a little bar/restaturant there as well as 2 other restaturants which are ok. The place is really, really quiet, so if you don't want to be bothered, this would be it. I would definitely reccomend booking at least a night at the Atlantis, it is awesome.
