“Perfect for what I wanted”

A Stone's Throw Away

I will agree with many reviewers here and say that I loved the place.
I loved the location, but I do wish we had a car while we were there.
The only 2 restauarnts within walking distance were both pretty bad.
Pretty bad to awful food and ridiculously overpriced. We took the bus (which was great) to the "fish fry" and had one very good and fairly priced meal; sorry, don't remember the name of the place, but it was one of the smaller ones and looked like locals eating there.

Picked this place as a quick 3-day getaway. I wanted to take the short flight from NYC, go directly (and quickly) from the airport to the hotel and just relax. This place was perfect for what I had in mind;
off the beaten path, beautiful, relaxing

“Lovely”

A Stone's Throw Away

We only stayed here for one night on our way back from Harbour Island (the best place in the world), but we were really impressed by the hotel.

The rooms have a modern boutique decor with air conditioning (essential in Nassau in July) and public verandas run around the outside of the whole house, which you can sit out on and check out the view. We were at the back of the hotel looking over the garden and the pool, but the higher rooms round the front overlooked the sea.

The pool is really cute, and the sun lounging area feels pretty glam. We were really impressed by the breakfast and the food in general. We had lunch there too, which was delicious.

Only drawback is the location. It's slightly random - quite far from Nassau central and not really near a beach. However, if you have a car and can't get into Compass Point, then I'd recommend it over any of the Paradise Island hotels by miles!

“Great wedding venue”

A Stone's Throw Away

31 Oct 2007

Just got back from my wedding / holiday at ASTA and have to say a special thanks to all the staff for all their efforts in making mine and my husbands day, one to remember and our two week stay the best holiday ever.

They were faultless in their tasks of setting up the venue to receive 150 of our guests, to preparing and cooking the food (which was excellent by the way) and for allowing the family to entertain our guests on subsequent days as if we were at our own homes.

We definately would go again and recommend any couple to hold a wedding there for the intimacy of the venue. We had the service around the pool with a marquee and then the dancing on the veranda facing the ocean. Everyone commented on how ideal it was and are calling it the wedding of the year, which we owe all to ASTA. Thanks to Glenys, Harriet, Lisa, Chef, Christine, Marcia, Security and the gang.

Love and stuff

This was by far one of the best trips my husband and I have had in a very long time. The hotel was amazing, the staff extremely helpful and attentive and the General Manager was so gracious, knowledgeable and professional. Not to mention the food was by far top notch. I had heard about the chef, and her creative dishes, but words can not describe the conch chowder, amazing! We LOVED this hotel ,and could not stop raving about our recent trip to Nassau to all of our friends.

If you are looking for a romantic, quiet, serene and beautiful place to stay when you are visiting Nassau, this is it. I found that this hotel was just far enough from Nassau that we felt like we were on our own private island. Nassau is not that big, so it's a short drive to the center of town, if you dare leave this oasis of a hotel.

I can't imagine not staying here when we go back to Nassau, it was just perfect.

Not close to Nassau center (30 min by bus in front of the hotel or driving). Good point is that you are avoiding tourists from boats! But you have to rent a car or a scooter (our option). Not possible to walk to another place.

Not far from the little airport of Nassau.

This is a different place, not a resort, but a big house in the middle of nowhere. It's a really beautiful place to stay and the owners and reception people are very nice. The view from the hotel is beautiful also.

Very convenient if you start a trip in the Bahamas.

Nice people and great rooms including "L'occitane en Provence" Products. The decoration is very sofisticate.
