The appeal of this resort depends on what you want, my husband and I loved that it was not overcrowded and that our room and balcony were very private and overlooking the ocean.

The Great Rooms - Loved the way the balconies off the rooms offered so much privacy and a spectacular view of the ocean...we could hear the waves all night. No matter if we chose to spend time at the pool or in our room we were close to the water.

Swimming - I loved the calm, shallow water of the ocean. The pool is small but who needs a pool when the ocean is so wonderful?

Quiet - It was not a noisy, crowded place, my husband and I loved the secluded feel. This place is not for those seeking action.

Food - We've since been to Dominican Republic 5 star resorts which offered a wide variety of food and places to eat - South Ocean was not at all the same in this respect - there is one restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and the pool bar is open for lunch. We were pretty much at the mercy of the menu.

I must stress that we are not picky. The fact that the setting was lovely and that we didn't have to cook and clean ourselves was enough for us. This place is unique - hopefully when they upgrade they'll improve the restaurants and provide activities for those who want them however we loved the seclusion and the ocean.

I hope they re-open, they needed improvements but we'd go back for the Great Rooms.

We stayed here for a week with a 1 year old. The room was not bad. Nice balcony, beautiful view. Bathroom was large. The room was a bit run down (as is to be expected), but fairly clean.

The beach was beautiful. The location is so remote and the hotel was very quiet, so honestly it was pretty boring. Definitely not a party atmosphere. More like a retirement villa. :) Nobody was around, nobody in the pool.

There was only 1 dining room and you had to walk quite a way to get there. I found the front desk staff and waiters to be very friendly. The food was pretty boring (same thing all the time). I also saw a roach scurry across the floor, but again, that is to be expected in a Carribean location.

It was fine but I wouldn't stay there again.

It’s been some time since we visited Nassau, but I still wanted to post my photos. I read the resort is now under construction. Hopefully Grand Opening will put my review to shame.

Words can’t express my fill with distaste with this resort, so I’ll be brief. Front desk - slow, unprofessional; Room - dim, musty; Bathroom - unclean, dated Jacuzzi (no refills on tissue or towels ?); Restaurant (singular) - tasted of day old food, menu was limited and not in an upscale kinda way. Seeing the outside structure of the beachfronts, was very appealing but deceiving. Beach was ok, but not clean. The BEST part about this place, Stuart Cove’s was right next door (I did a separate post for that).

Seeing the other reviews at 4 or 5 stars makes me wonder if those travelers were at the same place as me! I will not be returning.

first off, if you are paying $500 a night, then yes,it's not worth the money. i ended up picking this hotel because it was in a package i bought- with flight and hotel included. it was absolutely beautiful. rooms decent, staff unbelievably friendly, and the grounds are nice. this place is great if you want to stay at a soothing resort without people around. it tends to be quiet on the beach and hotel- no complaints from me! they have shuttle services into town from the hotel, which was nice! this is the place to go if you need peace, quiet, and alone time!
