“Expensive, rude and with a lot of shortfalls”

New York, NY

My wife and I took our boys (8 & 5) to Atlantis for their spring break from school in hopes of providing them a memorable and exciting experience. The complex ended up being so vast that we ended up spending 40% of our vacation just walking from place to place. There are only a few dining options available and the food is mediocre at best, but is unbelievably expensive!!! We live in New York and are very well familiar with fine dining, but the best places in New York cost about half of what we ended up paying for food, and the quality of food is so much better. After all, who ever heard of paying $85.00 for 4 slices of pizza with 4 soft drinks?!!

There is not one straight path in the entire complex, and as you walk, you come upon many dead ends, or areas that are closed off due to a private engagement. This would not be a problem, if there were any kind of markings to allow you to make a quick course correction, but the quickest correction that we have had to make ended up costing us 5 minutes!!! When I told an employee that if there was some sort of an indication at the beginning of the path that the area was going to be closed off, it would have made my experience much smoother, I was treated with rude indifference. Speaking of rudeness, there are several checkpoints throughout the complex where employees check your room key, but they show no regard for the fact that you are traveling on foot with children and that your hands are full. As a result, you have to stop the whole family, free up your hands and show the key. They should come up with a better method.

Last, but certainly not least, on our last day when we went to the swimming pool with the kids, it took us more than 1 hour to find a towel, so that we could get the kids out of the pool… The entire complex was out of towels!!! If all else can be forgiven, this cannot be. I can only imagine how they operate in full-blown summer swimming season!!!

Nor recommended at all. We went to Bermuda a couple of years ago, and while the place was also expensive, everything was well organized and everyone acted professional and courteous.

My review is very short. This was my first trip to the Atlantis hotel and it was unbeliveable. Everything was perfect, from our check-in, the room and the staff. I've read many reviews that complain about the cost of the food, I found the prices to be very reasonable. If you're use to spending money to dine, then its the same. I don't understand when people try to visit nice resorts and want cheap food to offset their cost. Just remember when you pay more than $300 a night for a room, you shouldn't expect things to be cheap. We truly enjoyed it and will return and stay in either the Royal Towers or the Coves. I believe that you PAY for what you get.

My husband and I just returned from the Royal Towers at the Atlantis resort. We had an amazing time! We were there on a company trip and spent four nights five days at the resort (4/9-4/13). Just for some background information on us so that you can understand where we are coming from. We live on Long Island and are used to expensive restaurants. We also love to travel and have been on many cruises, and too many resorts all over the US, Caribbean, and Europe.

We found the room to be a normal hotel room, nothing special, but nothing wrong with it. The bathroom was nicer than a regular hotel room. We had a view facing the ocean just above the stingrays and sharks (4th floor). The room was very clean when we arrived and we never had a problem with the maid service. The room was always cleaned right away and we had plenty of towels. We arrived at the resort at 11:30 and were sent right to our room. We did not even have to wait until the normal check in time of 3.

We found everyone working at the resort to be very friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions. We also found all of the waiters and waitresses at the restaurants to be very friendly and nice. We never found that anyone was looking for an extra tip. We did add extra tips to our bills because of the service.

The food at the resort was very good to excellent. We really liked Bimini Road and Carmines. We ate with a group of twelve at Carmines and ordered many entrees and appetizers and three bottles of wine. The bill only came out to $105 a couple including extra tip. We found this to be very reasonable. We opted not to spend the money at the buffet in the morning. Rather, we slept in a little and had an early lunch. We ate lunch most days at a pool bar. We did not find the food to be overly expensive. It wasn't cheap but not too bad either. It usually was about $30 for lunch for the two of us. Some of the pool bars allow you to get free refills of soda all day. We would keep our large cups from lunch and then refill it before we went up to the room to get ready for the night. This worked out well for us.

The grounds, marine exhibits, pools, slides, beaches, and lazy river were all amazing! We had so much fun just hanging out at the resort all day. There was always something to do, and plenty of areas to choose from. We never had a problem finding beach or pool chairs no matter what time of day. These were the chairs with the optional shade canopy on top!

Overall, we had an amazing time! We did not want to leave and will definitely go back one day. It is expensive, but if you realize this ahead of time and don't worry about it then you will love it! We found it to be worth the money.

“Great but Expensive”

Atlantis Royal Towers

I spent a brilliant 7 nights at the RT, Atlantis but the only thing that spoiled the holiday slightly was the astronomical cost of food/drink/entertainment. It's that much harder to relax and enjoy the holiday when you are genuinely worried about running out of money. I spent more on a couple of (fairly average) meals than I did on a diamond and white gold pendant I bought from one of the (many) jewellers.

One of the best features was the excellent water park which, thankfully, did not have a charge for hotel residents (one of the very few things included in the price).

We did the dolphin interaction which was a thrill, but again, very expensive and an opportunity for Atlantis to try and flog you expensive photos and videos (no surprise to anyone who's holidayed in Florida as this is par for the course there).

All in all, a good holiday but the cost would probably prevent me from returning.

“Best Vacation! Our Favorite!”

Atlantis Royal Towers

Atlantis is the best vacation we have found to take our children. We started going to Atlantis when they were 9 years old, now 13 and they still love it! There is SOOOOO much for them to do. For the person who said only good for couples because there isn't much to do at night- that is so wrong. First there is the pottery where they can create a "masterpiece", then there is a movie theater inside the hotel, there is the marina vilage which is nice to stroll and look at the boats, and enjoy an icecream cone. There is also Club Rush for pre-teens and then a time for teens to attend! Our teenagers went there every night! It is very safe, and no parents allowed inside! There are also kids activities all day! If your kids aren't the type to get away from mommy and daddy or are too small for the water slides, then yes, why would you spend this type of money to go to Atlantis. Might as well go to a regular beach!

I also have to laugh when I read the reviews that complain about the high price of things especially food. This resort, especially the Royal Towers is unlike any other in terms of the pools, grounds and things to do. After arriving (or reading the reveiws) why would you go here and expect anything else but high prices? You can go online to the restaraunts and see the prices of the meals ahead of time. You can also get on a dining plan (which we've never done, but here its good and worth it).We go on vacation to be on vacation. This means no cooking, no grocery shopping for snacks, etc. So...with that being said we go knowing ahead of time it will be expensive. We do not complain about it, but rather just enjoy ourselves. If you know this ahead of time, it won't be a shock to you and you will be able to enjoy yourself instead of focusing on how much everything is. Also, if you look at what you are spending a night and it is at least $300 or more a night (& this goes for anywhere you go!) then you have to expect things to be a little pricier! Just like you can't expect to stay in a million dollar home and be served PB&J everyday, or in a shack and eat caviar and lobster every day. You have to take into consideration where you are going and the amenities! And maybe Atlantis isn't for anyone, but I agree with the person who said that anyone who complains about this place, probably wouldn't be happy anywhere! We always stay first class in the Royal Towers, but you can also stay in the Beach Towers and Coral Towers which are older but also nice and actually closer to the movie theater, marina village, restaraunts, comedy club, Club Rush, etc

Highly recommend this place to people who have children as well as adults who want to have a fabulous time, be pampered and don't mind spending some money! Love it!!!!!
