“Great hotel...bring lots of $$!!!”

The Cove Atlantis

I'm a 30 year old who went for a girls weekend with a few of my friends. If you want a gorgeous hotel with few children, this is the place to be! We originally booked the Royal Towers, but there were so many children, so we switched. The suites at the Cove are absolutely gorgeous....but they should be for the $900 per night that we paid. We went during the weekend in the Spring, so of course, it was going to be expensive. Split by four girls wasn't too bad, but my point is that it was extremely expensive. The pool area was amazing... top notch service, adults only, right on the beach... the best pool I have ever seen. Please keep in mind that I'm a traveler...(Vegas, South Beach, Europe, Mexico, all over). This was hands down the nicest place I have ever stayed in, but it should be since we spent a fortune. The service was great, people were friendly, and there's a shuttle to take you to the other towers (I'd only suggest visiting the Royal as the Coral & Beach are like Holiday Inn's and are full of families). The Spa was great as was Mesa Grill. The food was expensive, but the Bahamas are expensive. We are from NJ/NY area, so the flight was quick and we had a blast. There's a fun club at the Royal Towers that we went too and that was fun too. If you are looking for a fun place, but are willing to pay $$, go for it. It was kind of like staying at the Setai or Shore Club in South Beach, but we felt like we were further away being in the Caribbean. Overall, it was a great time though!

My wife and just got back from 5 days at the Cove. The Cove is a nice hotel. Nice rooms, great view. 2 Plasmas. The overall feeling I get at the Atlantis is as if I've woken up in a tropical version of Grand Central Station in New York City. There are so many people staying at this hotel that you have to wait for everything! Beach chairs are gone by noon. Want to grab a water at a snack stand at 1pm? Give yourself 25 minutes. The staff couldn't care less on how long you wait for everything. Since there are so many people staying here and so many staff there is no accountiblilty for their actions. Atlantis cannot handle the volume of people that stay there. If you don't make dinner plans months in advance plan on eating in or leaving the hotel. I highly recommend staying at the One and Only beach club. You can use the Atlantis restaurants but are guarded from the cluster... that is the Atlantis. Also, I've stayed at the most expensive hotels around the world and the food and drinks at Atlantis are by far the most expensive I've encountered. Think $42 for a grilled chicken sandwich. If you like to relax while on vacation go somewhere else. This is not a relaxing spot.

“Great time!!! Needs better service”

The Cove Atlantis

My wife and I just went to the Cove for a nice 3 day break without the kids. Overall it was a VERY relaxing stay and the hotel is nothing short of beautiful. The rooms are very well appointed and there is great attention to all the details. Do yourself a favor and upgrade so you get to use the "Club" on the 22nd floor. It provides a free breakfast, snacks throughout the day and free drinks from 5-7. The food at the Club was top notch and there was plenty of staff to help you book food reservations and help with other issues. It also comes with limo service to and from the airport. Definitely a plus.

We also enjoyed the private pool; Cain. It is an adult only pool although it is obvious that they let kids in under 18 years old. Not that big of a deal seeing as there were no infants, I just wished they did a better job of adhering to their own policies.

Yes, the food and drinks are expensive...so be prepared. We ate at Nobu and at the Mesa Grill. Nobu was so good we went back a second time and sat at the bar. No reservations were needed. The Mesa Grill was equally good. My wife had the grouper which was great and my steak (NY Strip) was one of the best ever.

My only knock on the entire trip was the service. The overwhelming majority of the help at the hotel seemed like they could not be bothered in helping you. It was very disappointing, especially at these prices. Also, the Cain (pool) is very understaffed so be prepared. We waited 45 minutes for a cocktail and had to order it 3 times. At $18/drink you would think that the service would be a little better.

Plus they add a 15% service charge to every item....regardless of where you eat or what you order (Food and Spa).

Overall it was a great vacation and a great getaway...I just wish they were a little more attentive to the people paying their salaries.

Long awaited...we stayed in summer 2007, but had to give this place an awesome review....because it is amazing.

The Cove is an amazing place. Attach it to Atlantis, and it makes it fun as well. What makes it even better for us is that most of it is adults only. There's another pool that allows kids, but the real luxury part is the adult pool. Not many people on the beach, so no kids bothering you there. People from the rest of atlantis can't come to the Cove beach.

Room - gorgeous. Don't know why we needed two flat screen tv's - one at the bed, and one in the sitting area..but we had them. Only actually used the one by the bed. Great channel selection. Our view included the ocean to the left, and the rest of the atlantis straight ahead and to the right. It was sweet!

Adult Pool - oh my god. Padded lounges, beds, infinity pools...jeez. It was paradise. Good music throughout the day, and dancers came out at night and danced on the beds in the middle of the pool.
---as you should know by reading reviews and realizing where you are - drinks/food are expensive. Don't drop ratings here because you think its expensive. Its quite apparent that you should know before you go. It is NO secret. There were a few NFL players there while we were there. No idea who they were, but they were chillin out before training camp started. We stayed last summer (2007).

Beach - big, private, great water. They just finished building another exclusive hotel over on that side, so maybe it is more crowded, but even if, it was empty when we were there. You can also use any beach you choose at the atlantis, and noone else can come over here :)

Food - expensive, decent. We weren't going there for the food. We went to chill and have a comfortable experience. We ate to sustain our chill-axing.

Service - everyone was always asking to see if we were having a great time, and I'm sure if we weren't they would've helped. They seemed ready to please

What to watch out for - don't even open the mini-bar-fridge. Just opening it once moved every single bottle in it. Our check out bill was 4 pages long with every little bottle on it. We only barely opened to see what was inside. They quickly removed the charges. Annoying, but it was quickly resolved. Would've wished it was easier...but whatever.

Part of my 1 year anniversary trip with my husband

Here is the good and bad of it.
Good- We stayed at Coral Towers for 3 days and then moved to The Cove. Wow! It is so spectacular.
The Cove has its own private pool (extremely hip/ with beds all around and in the middle.) You feel very VIP. Since it was October, not many people were there and we enjoyed the relaxation of that.
Our view from the room was amazing. Entire ocean, pools, beach. They were playing great Bahamian music by the pool that flowed up through our window/balcony. It was truly perfect.
Room is gorgeous (Bathroom is incredible/ big tub, stand alone shower). Room was so great, it was hard to leave it.
From my other review:
Pools were every where and beautiful at Atalantis.. Beach was empty and stunning. The entire location is sooo romantic and gorgeous to look at and walk around. We really loved it. We never got bored, always something fun to look at and walk to. The water slides were fun and all the wildlife was lovely. We didn't gamble but walked through the casino. It was perfect for gambling if you want to do that. We went to the nightclub which was OK. Well designed, fun music. A little bit of an uncomfortable crowd, but that is what it is like when you travel sometimes.

BAD- Storm hit when we were leaving and the wind really whips around the hotel (Since the bottom part is mostly outside and in crazy wind tunnels.) But the reception was very kind and got us out quickly to catch our flight and escape the big storm. Also:
All the food at Atlantis is INCREDIBLY expensive. We didn't do the food plan (knowing that we eat less than most people/ and enjoy very high quality food). But we were amazed how expensive it was (And I eat in Beverly Hills all the time/so I am used to expensive food). Make sure to get insurance in case a big storm hits. It can be pretty scary to travel near/ in it!

    • Liked — Room was spectacular, Cove beach was lovely and soft and pool was insane in a good way.
