If you are in your 20's and want to get away from everyone and everything, The Cove is the place to go! I had the best experience staying here. From dolphin swimming to just relaxing at the multiple infinity pools at Cane drinking Bellinis, the word vacation does not describe such a memory. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Prices are expensive but worth every dollar you spend. Nobu is a must try as well as Mesa Grill. Don't get it twisted you will be satisfied. Right on Johnny Boy ;p

The Cove Atlantis

My husband and I had lost 3 family members between us this year, so we were really looking forward to this vacation. We had visited Atlantis 11 years ago before it was expanded and had a great time.

This time, not so much.

In a nutshell, the rooms are really nice, great bathroom and gorgeous views. The Cove itself is a pleasure to walk through.

The staff were friendly, but that's about as far as I can go with the praise for this trip.

Our shower was never cleaned, even though I tipped the housekeeping crew daily.

Our first day we got to the Cain pool around 3, so not the best choice in beach loungers available. The next morning we got there at 8:45 but they don't open until 9. We picked our chairs, tipped the pool guy, and gave him $50.00 ( !!! ) to make sure we got the same chairs for the next 5 days. Next morning we get there and our chairs are gone! I laughingly had said to my husband the night before "someone is going to come in and hand him $200 and our chairs will go to the highest bidder" and that appears to be exactly what happened.

If you don't have cash to throw away on such nonsense don't even bother going.

The food is outrageously expensive, and we knew that going in. Breakfast buffet was $60 + for the two of us. per day.

If the food were spectacular we wouldn't be complaining, but Mesa Grill was great the first night we went. Phenomenal actually.

Then we went to Cafe Martinique where I had the most awful Dover Sole Muniere which was really just bland fish with melted butter poured on top. I must be an idiot for ordering it at $70, but with their reputation and that price I expected to be blown away. My husband ordered the snapper which was also terribly bland.

And that's where the fun actually began...

While at dinner that night my husband got ill from eating lunch (stay AWAY from the jerk pork!) at the pool that day, had chills and got sick while at the restaurant. To their credit, they brought him a jacket and hot tea, but I ate a few bites and we hurried him back to the room. He was sick most of the night but ok the next day.

I ate a delicious seafood wrap for lunch at The Cove's pool Cain that afternoon, and at 11pm jumped out of bed with the worse case of food poisoning. I lost 6 pounds in 12 hours and had to see the hotel doctor. (We are home now 2 days and I am just starting to tolerate solid food).

By the next afternoon when he could see me we had decided that we weren't going to be able to feel safe eating anywhere on the grounds anymore, so we cut our vacation short and came home. Can you imagine? An $9,000.00 vacation for 5 days and we left early!

We were lucky I guess in that we had taken out insurance for the trip because we weren't sure my Dad would make it while we were gone.. so my advice is to get the best insurance you can for such an expensive trip.

Fortunately, Connecticut is gorgeous this time of year.

“Great hotel...bring lots of $$!!!”

The Cove Atlantis

I'm a 30 year old who went for a girls weekend with a few of my friends. If you want a gorgeous hotel with few children, this is the place to be! We originally booked the Royal Towers, but there were so many children, so we switched. The suites at the Cove are absolutely gorgeous....but they should be for the $900 per night that we paid. We went during the weekend in the Spring, so of course, it was going to be expensive. Split by four girls wasn't too bad, but my point is that it was extremely expensive. The pool area was amazing... top notch service, adults only, right on the beach... the best pool I have ever seen. Please keep in mind that I'm a traveler...(Vegas, South Beach, Europe, Mexico, all over). This was hands down the nicest place I have ever stayed in, but it should be since we spent a fortune. The service was great, people were friendly, and there's a shuttle to take you to the other towers (I'd only suggest visiting the Royal as the Coral & Beach are like Holiday Inn's and are full of families). The Spa was great as was Mesa Grill. The food was expensive, but the Bahamas are expensive. We are from NJ/NY area, so the flight was quick and we had a blast. There's a fun club at the Royal Towers that we went too and that was fun too. If you are looking for a fun place, but are willing to pay $$, go for it. It was kind of like staying at the Setai or Shore Club in South Beach, but we felt like we were further away being in the Caribbean. Overall, it was a great time though!

“I do not like the Atlantis. TOO CROWDED”

My wife and just got back from 5 days at the Cove. The Cove is a nice hotel. Nice rooms, great view. 2 Plasmas. The overall feeling I get at the Atlantis is as if I've woken up in a tropical version of Grand Central Station in New York City. There are so many people staying at this hotel that you have to wait for everything! Beach chairs are gone by noon. Want to grab a water at a snack stand at 1pm? Give yourself 25 minutes. The staff couldn't care less on how long you wait for everything. Since there are so many people staying here and so many staff there is no accountiblilty for their actions. Atlantis cannot handle the volume of people that stay there. If you don't make dinner plans months in advance plan on eating in or leaving the hotel. I highly recommend staying at the One and Only beach club. You can use the Atlantis restaurants but are guarded from the cluster... that is the Atlantis. Also, I've stayed at the most expensive hotels around the world and the food and drinks at Atlantis are by far the most expensive I've encountered. Think $42 for a grilled chicken sandwich. If you like to relax while on vacation go somewhere else. This is not a relaxing spot.

“Great time!!! Needs better service”

The Cove Atlantis

My wife and I just went to the Cove for a nice 3 day break without the kids. Overall it was a VERY relaxing stay and the hotel is nothing short of beautiful. The rooms are very well appointed and there is great attention to all the details. Do yourself a favor and upgrade so you get to use the "Club" on the 22nd floor. It provides a free breakfast, snacks throughout the day and free drinks from 5-7. The food at the Club was top notch and there was plenty of staff to help you book food reservations and help with other issues. It also comes with limo service to and from the airport. Definitely a plus.

We also enjoyed the private pool; Cain. It is an adult only pool although it is obvious that they let kids in under 18 years old. Not that big of a deal seeing as there were no infants, I just wished they did a better job of adhering to their own policies.

Yes, the food and drinks are expensive...so be prepared. We ate at Nobu and at the Mesa Grill. Nobu was so good we went back a second time and sat at the bar. No reservations were needed. The Mesa Grill was equally good. My wife had the grouper which was great and my steak (NY Strip) was one of the best ever.

My only knock on the entire trip was the service. The overwhelming majority of the help at the hotel seemed like they could not be bothered in helping you. It was very disappointing, especially at these prices. Also, the Cain (pool) is very understaffed so be prepared. We waited 45 minutes for a cocktail and had to order it 3 times. At $18/drink you would think that the service would be a little better.

Plus they add a 15% service charge to every item....regardless of where you eat or what you order (Food and Spa).

Overall it was a great vacation and a great getaway...I just wish they were a little more attentive to the people paying their salaries.
