We spent 4 days in Atlantis as my 40th birthday present and just returned, Wednesday April 2nd.
A Lincoln Towncar was reserved to take us to the Coral Towers. On arrival at 5:30 p.m., we didn't have to wait in a line at all. We received room keys and went up to our room. My husband wanted a room with a better view and they had no problem changing our room to a view of the ocean and the Royal Towers. We could see everything from our balcony (great pictures day and night!). Again great and smiling service. We treated the service personnel with courtesy and respect and received as much back. Our server at the Lagoon Grill even hunted down a particular drink they did not have at hand from another facility, complete with apologies.
The room is exactly as expected. The brightly colored curtains are perfect for the location. I had also read all the complaints. The ground floor carpet was continually being dried, so the was a damp smell, (which is what you get when people are CONSTANTLY walking through with wet towels, shoes, bodies, etc.) Our room had a working safe, working TV (you can keep track of spending on it, too), and towels enough for a family of five! Hairdryer was included and worked perfectly and I have waist length THICK hair. We didn't use the morning paper, nor did we need the maid service first night and were left alone. Just the way I like it.
The grounds are unbelievable and I packed sneakers to go everywhere, so we hit the ground running first night. Tip: do the DIG after 8 p.m. or around 7 a.m. We took pictures everywhere without a single other person around but us. We encountered no lines at all for anything. The Current is a blast... a must do... The water rides started at 11:00 a.m. so we were at the beach by 8:45 and lounging.
About prices: the drinks cost the same as a high end cruise line. Honestly not a big deal and they pour HEAVY! The first night we ate the Seafood Buffet at the Waters Edge, $48.00 all you can eat. I didn't think that was out of line either. The same for the Marketplace, $48 for huge array of different cuisines to suit all tastes from Asian to Pizza. Tip: stop on the way in and get your own wine and a few 2 liter bottles of water. We had a wonderful French burgundy with dinner that were a little high and had the rest in our room or out and about in plastic cups (of course). We brought snacks for breakfast and something at the beach, only because I don't do hamburgers and hotdogs.
If you don't want crowds and such, we spent most of our time at Cove Beach underneath the lone palm tree. Makes you look like you're in a Corona commercial. No hair braiding, no watercraft , no babble, just the wind and the waves. ahhh paradise....
We don't gamble and we don't require waiting on hand and foot nor do we have children. We also don't do organized activities. I do my own thing, thank you. If you are like us, you will have an UNBELIEVABLE time.
