I have to admit I was a little concerned when I booked a trip on the Discovery Cruise Line and it included a night stay at this resort. (After I read alot of bad reviews on both of them). My husband and I were really amazed that people would write a bad review about this Bahama cruise to stay at Port Lucaya Resort. We had a wonderful time!!! Everyone at the resort was so nice and helpful. The room we stayed in was very clean and very nicely decorated. We loved the view of the harbor and it was close to everything we wanted to do. Shop, Gamble, go to the beach, and see the beautiful island. We really liked the glassbottom boat ride also.
This place was huge and very colorful and very well maintained.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. Although the hotel has no food or bar services, it is a great place to stay. Being right beside the market, everything a person could want from pizza to Steak, is all within a very short walk. The room was clean and the people were great. We went mainly to dive and can't wait to return. The only thing we are going to change on the next trip is the length of our stay. We are planning on a 10 night stay so we can enjoy more of what the Port Lucaya area has to offer.

This was the worst place I ever stayed. !st let me list all the things that didn't work .......... AIR CONDITIONING, Phone, Lamps, the Whirpool, TV Remote, Ice Machine, Soda Machine and the shower was scaulding. The weather was about 100 degrees w/ 100% humidity. The air conditioner would only work on low cool. I called for the 1st three days, as they continued to say they would have someone come and fix it. No one came. Finally, on the day before we left they said they would change our room. Obviously, that too is only an inconvenience to us,, we stayed were we were and sweat it out. You also have to give them a $50.00 deposit to have a phone in your room that works. I did this. The phone still would not work. I had to use the phone at the front desk, which also happened to be broke so I had to go outside and use that phone. When I told them the soda machine didn't work they said it wasn't their machine. The hotel was not interested at all in how displeased we were, and did nothing to accomodate all that did n't work. We were very displeased with this hotel and would obviously never stay there again. This location was top notch. The hotel is just average, the staff is great, but the location is what its about. It is right next to the nightlife and that is all you need to know. Ask a cab driver to take you to get some chicken and fries, that is where you will see the real Bahamas.
