While staying on GBI we (myself and two teenage girls) decided to go horseback riding. After reading reviews of the other stable, we opted to look at the alternatives. The girls said it was the highlight of what was an excellent vacation. We went on a very scenic beach ride (not single file) and saw much wildlife including a small shark which caused the girls to ride out of the water onto the beach. Our guide and myself stayed in the surf hoping for a closer look. The weather was great, horses were very fun to ride , the beaches were beautiful and the owner was very kid friendly. As a bonus, she even gave the girls a little inside info on some local celebrities. Wear a bathing suit and bring a camera. pix to follow

I love to horseback ride but hadn't been in years. I'd always wanted to ride a horse down the beach -- and my dream came true on our last visit to Grand Bahama Island. My husband booked a ride for just the two of us with our guide. She picked us up at our hotel on a Saturday evening. She took us directly to the beach for an hour-long ride at sunset. We finished the evening off with a wonderful, candle light dinner and bonfire at a beach front restaurant, then rode back down the beach (all inclusive). The scenery was breath taking, the horses beautiful and powerful and our guide was very attentive and helpful. She provided us with very personalized attention and it was really a great experience not having to go on a trail ride with your horses nose butting up against the butt of the horse in front of you with a bunch of people we didn't know, like with most stables. (Our guide was a former Rodeo star with lots of knowledge about horses and riding.) It was just the three of us and my husband and I were able to really experience an excellent ride through the shallow, aqua-blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, the gorgeous sunset and the white sandy beaches. When we return to Grand Bahama - we plan to take the nature tour and beach ride with Trikk Pony Adventures as well. I highly recommend this adventure to anyone -- whether a novice rider or experienced. Nothing compares to riding a spectacular horse down the beach!
