Best Place To Get Married In The Islands

We just returned from the best vacation of all time! My best friends is planning her wedding so we hit the islands for a quick final scope out. And now I also know where when I get married I plan on getting married here!

At first, when I was told where we were staying and she was having her reception... I was a little unsure. The name "lodge" evoked feelings of a dark outdated elk lodge that smelled like old men! And I can report it was anything but!

Her wedding will be prefect! The hotel has several incredible places to hold the reception and just down the road within walking distance is the perfect island church, overlooking the ocean. She is planning to have the reception by the pool and the view and atmosphere is perfect.

Tom had all the answers to everything and was so wonderful to us. He goes out of his way making your special day truly incredible.

After reading other reviews I had questions, but Tom exceeded any questions. I would recommended it without question. They make you feel at home the minute you enter their establishment. During the entire stay the staff refers to each guest on a first name basis which makes you feel right at home.

The food at Hope Town Harbour Lodge is amazing, both lunch and dinner were spectacular! They will even pack you a picnic basket if you would like to go on an excursion.

We stayed in the Oceanfront Cabanas which overlooked the breathtaking ocean. The balcony is equipped with comfortable lounge chairs to relax on while taking in the views or a serene sunset. The linens and bed define pure comfort.

Typically, we look for a house to rent however, we are glad we chose The Lodge. The two minute golf cart ride to the Tahiti beach allows you to discover both the beauty and friendliness of the island. They provide beach chairs, umbrellas and bottled water on their own section of the beach. Also take advantage of the beach side bar, an excellent choice for lunch or a local cocktail.

All in all, Tom ensured that our every need was met from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. We were sad to leave this special place, and already are planning our next visit

We thought this was a nice little place..Not a 5 Star property. True Bahamian look..Clean room, comfy beds, over-priced in every way..
Beautiful waters and boating..can dock your boat right at the hotel..

  • Liked — Looking at the beautiful blue Atlantic!
  • Disliked — Prices... property a bit tired..

Hope Town is not a vacation spot for anyone looking for a party or night-life scene. It is a beautiful, quiet, romantic (if you're so inclined) get-away spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Bahama Islands. The Hope Town Harbour Lodge has several accomodation options; rooms in the main lodge, poolside cabanas, ocean view cottages, and ocean front cottages. We spent a week in the latter. The cottages have one large room with a kitchenette in the entry hall complete with fridge, sink, coffee machine, toaster, and microwave. This allowed us to make our own breakfast and lunch if we were so inclined - a nice option. There was no telephone or television. Internet service was available in the main lodge. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. If something went awry (our smoke alarm went off for no reason), someone came very promptly. Particularly noteworthy was the general manager, Tom Hazel, who was a wonderful resource. The bathroom amenities were very nice - good shower, double sink vanity, all very well appointed. There were lots of drawers and closet space. Best of all, you are as close to the beach as you could possibly be. The room opens onto a private porch overlooking the ocean with chairs and chaises (see photo). We ate in the Lodge's upscale restaurant which was a lovely dining experience. Food and service were clearly a step above the other eating establishments that we experienced on the island. As with any small remote island location, everyone and everything moves at a slower pace and occasionally goods can be in short supply. This resort is not a 24/7 metropolitan boutique hotel, but it is a wonderful upscale island resort. We would note only two opportunities for improvement; on occasion the towels had a musty oder to them - likely the result of being stored in a damp environment. We would also encourage anyone expecting phone calls to put in a specific request that the message be delivered promptly. We will return here!

  • Liked — The view and proximity to the beach
  • Disliked — there was little to not like - perhaps the slightly musty smelling towels

This is a beautiful lodge, right on the water. We had a really nice room for three with gorgeous views of the water and two balconys. It was very clean and well cared for. The hotel's restaurant has very good food and you can easily eat in town if you prefer. The feeling was casual and classy at the same time. The staff and everyone were extremely helpful and friendly, as we found everyone in the Bahamas. It's easy to get to, as the ferry drops you off right at the Lodge's dock. It's also easy walking distance to the heart of Hope Town, a small lovely town on the island. We loved it there.

  • Liked — Beautfiul island and lodge is in a great location
  • Disliked — No problems with it

We spent three terrific nights at the lodge, two in an oceanfront cabana and one in an ocean-view room. The cabana was perfect--lots of space (double sinks, mini-fridge) and a nice big deck overlooking the ocean and the quiet beach. Just a stone's throw from the beach bar and the pool, too. Their off-season prices can't be beat, and it's great being able to walk into town.

The service was good; the reception desk directed us to a bike rental location and were helpful about other things. (They did warn us about drinking tap water and advised us to buy bottled water from them instead, but we had no problems with the tap water.)

We had a few drinks at the bar and ate a decent breakfast every morning, but we never dined in the restaurant, so can't comment on that.

Overall it was a great stay in a great location, and we'd recommend the lodge to others visiting Hope Town.
