The place is beautiful, though largely under construction. The units are overpriced considering many of the amenities are yet to be completed.

If you plan on visiting here, I highly recommend venturing off the resort property and visitng some of the local joints. Bimini is definitely a no-frills place so don't expect a lot in the way of appearances, but local restaurants and shops are full of local flavor and really nice people.

Back to the resort, the staff seems small and not always helpful, but they are mostly nice people. The food is good. The pool is fantastic. I would recommend this place for someone not looking for schedules or structured activities. In a few years, I imagine it will be much better.

I read about Bimini and because I live in Fort Lauderdale I thought “how convenient”. I knew that the island is small and low key which was fine with my wife and I. We just wanted something tasteful and clean to stay in with an awesome beach. When you go to their website you and click on beaches, they mention amazing beaches and show you incredible pictures of beach. Additionally, their brochure (which i would love to post a picture of the cover but dont want to copy right infring), shows an amazing beach. However, when you see my real shots of their beach, you will see there is almost no beach whatsoever. The website shows this amazing infinity pool dropping right into the ocean and my wife and I thought "what an incredible spot". When we got there, we were surprised to see that the pool drops off to a concrete wall about 15 feet high down to the water. The access to the "beach" looks like it was re-built because they realized that it was a problem. You can see screw holes on the fence where there used to be hinges to allow for access to the "beach". Now those hinges are gone and there is solid fencing blocking access. In order to get to the beach, you have to walk around the whole pool area and down and awkward concrete stair case to see a very sad little strip of sand and rock which is what they represented as beach. The very mediocre staff actually told my wife she was not allowed to use her towel while she was entering the beach area. They told her something about having to bring your own. THIS IS A HOTEL FOLKS, WITH A MAJOR EMPHASIS ON BEACH AND THEY HAVE NO FURNITURE AND BLOCK YOU FROM GOING TO THE BEACH OR USING THEIR TOWELS. So this was our first part of the trip. The staff said they are trying to figure out if they are going to put anything down there or not but in the mean time it was empty. Additionally, we drove the island hoping for a glimpse of that gorgeous beach on the brochure to no avail. Then we enter our room which was really a cute room with a very nice layout, nice finishes and brand new. Only problem is they did not punch list the unit at all. It took me half an hour to figure out the compressor was off to the a/c so I got that working. There was a layer of dust from the construction throughout the unit. You could tell they just finished it and were prematurely releasing it into the Hotel Pool. Then we wanted to take a shower and there was no hot water. I tried to call the front desk and there was no dial tone!!! So we drove to the front desk after a freezing shower and they sent someone to fix this. After having dinner we came back to no TV reception. The next morning we woke to NO WATER AT ALL IN THE UNIT! We decided this was not the place for us considering we both work hard and have precious vacation time. I chartered a plain the next day to Harbor Island in North Eleuthera. If you want a beach, there is NO place in the Bahamas as nice as Pink Sand Beach. Service was first class and the Island was much more established. All in all, Bimini Bay Resort has a very cute feeling to it but it needs to cook (meaning develop) further at least another year or two before it is together. It is a condo hotel and they can be very tricky with service. It is also brand new and has A LOT of kinks to get out. Also, their false marketing is VERY DECIEVING. If you go there as a fisherman, or someone from the north just looking for sun and a nice pool, that is fine, however realize there is a lot of growing this place needs to do. Also, be wary of the food, I ordered a Caesar with blackened shrimp and it came with more flies than the one and half rubber hard shrimp pieces for $ 13. At the very end the extremely mediocre front desk offered me somewhat reasonable compensation against my expensive room for the one night we did stay, with apologies and hoping we would come back again.

The Island is an amazing getaway that has a very warm charm. The charm comes from the friendly locals, an amazing feeling of warmth that you will only find on a small island. I thank the people of Bimini for sharing their piece of paradise and allowing me to take from her tropical island memories of my Wife and daughters that I will cherish for a very long time. The resort is very well done and it seems as if only 1/3 complete. The Staff was a little overwhelmed at times and you can see that they are still working out some wrinkles. The Cleaning services are a little slow, but the room being cleaned in a timely manner is the last thing on your mind when you are in the crystal clear waters of the beaches. The sand and water clarity is amazing to say the least. The resort has a Amazing Infinity Pool that extends into the ocean that is indescribable. They have a Bar and grill Pool side with good eats and prices aren't horrible considering your on an Island. I suggest you get a golf cart (gas cart) for your stay and explore the two main roads in Bimini. Places to note Bimini Big Game, Browns Marina, Sherries’ Bar (this is a must do) on the West road by the old straw market and enjoy a drink while the sun dips into the ocean, Make sure you stop in and see Fabian and get some Conch Salad, and the grilled fish stand and try some lobster. The kids ( 3 and 8 yo) Were constantly in the pool or ocean, but for a change of pace the resort has a nice play ground area. We also found a very kid friendly reef that started on the beach and extended out to about 1/2 a mile. The reef has some very pretty tropical fish and sea life all over it. The reef is located on the north end of the west beach. Make sure you wear water shoes on this beach because it’s a little rocky for the kids. And bring snorkeling equipment for the kids.

The accommodations were very nice. We stayed in the Angler unit which is fully furnished with washer and dryer. There are small grocery stores on the island to buy the little necessities for your stay (a little pricy but not so bad) but the key is to have a golf cart.

In all the only thing I would recommend to the resort is to set up a Common area for Barbequing because its just not right to be on that island and not be able to BBQ. And also the pool area music choice was Horrible!! When I go to the islands I want to hear island music not the Chill Channel on sirus sat radio! I can listen to that stuff here in the states. The staff wasn’t allowed to change the music. In all, I would go back again anytime!!!!

Bimini Bay Resort & Marina

If you consider yourself to be laid back and exremely patient – this is the resort for you. On the other hand, if you expect prompt service and a knowledgeable staff, do not venture to the Island of Bimini. After arriving by boat and idling for approximately one-half hour, our party of eight was given our slip and the dockmaster carefully explained how to clear customs. We completed the paperwork and then went to check-in only to find out that our reserved three-bedroom Millenium townhome (which was to be located across from the infinity edge pool) had been sold out from under us. Our options, at that point, were either a smaller three-bedroom Treehouse located at the far end of the resort where construction was taking place, or two two-bedroom condos nearer to the pool and diagonally across from one another. We chose the two-bedroom condos due to their proximity to the pool and marina. We would spend the next two days in these condos and then move to an available beach home adjacent to the pool for the balance of our stay. After some negotiating, the management agreed to keep the price of all these units the same as the original Millenium townhome. The housekeeping staff did their best to clean the two units promptly, but either due to a small staff, or a holiday
week, the units were not ready for several hours. All was not lost, however, as it took over one hour to move our belongings from the marina to the condos. There is only one tram that circles the property, but the marina provides luggage carts to those who want to move items on their own (a good option). After successfully moving into our condos we headed for the beach and pool. The units are well-appointed with marble flooring, granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, down comforters, televisions in every bedroom and the living area as well as washer and dryer units. There are sleeper sofas and the furniture is a combination of rattan and cream colored linen fabrics. Bimini Bay also provides shampoo, conditioner, soaps, and soft towels. There are no blow dryers and if you want to do laundry, you must bring your own detergent. The pool area is beautiful and well-kept. Plenty of towels and seating is provided as well as a full-service poolside grill where service was prompt and courteous. The infinity edge is beautiful and the beach is long and lazy. Very soft sand is great for kids who want to build sandcastles (bring your own buckets, shovels, beach chairs and floating devices) and the turquoise water is surreal. Our dinner that evening was at the property's Casa Lyon. The service, although courteous, was lacking dramatically in promptness, Also, the waitresses and waiters had little knowledge about wine and menu selections. Our food, which arrived almost two and one-half hours after initially ordered, was cold and the portions small for the price paid. Although it was well-prepared and tasted fine, it was not worth the wait or the price. The restaurant needs to be fine tuned which will ultimately result in an elegant place to dine. The property only has two venues for eating and definitely requires more options. They are also in the midst of building additional units, a golf club, casino, and marketplace, as well as single-family homes. Construction will continue for approximately two more years. One other note: Reserve your golf cart (the main form of transportation on the island) well in advance. They are in very short supply and a must have for visitors. Our group will return to Bimini Bay Resort, as it is definitely the only upscale property on the island and provides the creature comforts that many expect. But, be sure to bring everything that you require as there is no place yet to purchase items (including the basic bread, milk, coffee, cereal, cleaning products, etc.). As far as the island itself, Bimini has approx. 1500 residents. There are two roads (a low road and high road) that go from one end of the island to the other – 7 miles long. There is one other resort that was functioning at the time of our trip – the Big Game Club – where we did eat. The food was adequate and the service was much better than at Bimini Bay Resort. It is possible to walk the 4-5 miles to Big Game from Bimini Bay, but a golf cart is a better choice. Remember to drive on the left and beware of rushing motor scooters and older model cars. The road, which supposedly accomodates two vehicles, is very narrow and there are no traffic signals. Signage is very limited. To sum up – our four night
stay was restful and filled with water sports – fishing and snorkeling. The lazy days of Bimini was a nice break before returning
to the hustle-bustle of South Florida. The resort is worth visiting, but only if you have a relaxed attitude.
