We got a great low-season rate on the Ippomee room (really a 2 storey suite, though we did not use the loft area) where we stayed 2 nights on October 13 and 14. The room was immaculate, the bed large and firm, the fittings of high quality.
I prefer a bathroom that is not divided into 2 rooms. But that is my only criticism. (Other rooms have large undivided bathrooms.)
Breakfast was abundant and the breakfast room is lovely. One evening, Madame very kindly permitted us to prepare a cold meal in the kitchen and eat it in that room -- we washed up after our meal and stored remnants in the fridge.
The garden and pool area are beautifully maintained. Alas, it was too cold for swimming that week.
The setting is conveniently close to the centre of Taulignan, which was an advantage when we drove to La Malle Poste for dinner one evening.
We were alone in the restaurant on that Thursday evening -- yet it was packed when we passed it the next night. We had an incredibly cheap and incredibly well prepared dinner, so abundant that we could scarcely look at food the next day -- hence our picnic dinner at home.
A few other reviewers (below) have made critical comments to which the owner -- I regret to add -- has responded defensively. Those exchanges ALMOST persuaded me not to book at La Chapelle.
That would have been a bad mistake on my part. I would never have experienced the owner's warm welcome, the high-quality accommodation and the very pleasant company of the civilized clientele who shared it with us.
