The really special thing about the Absolute Bar is it's owners Kean & Num. I was travelling on my own when I came across this place and they really took me under their wing and made a fuss over me.
The bar is in the area between The Small Resort and the little bridge over the stream as you head down to Nopparat Thara Beach. It's tucked in just behind the little parade of shops next to the bridge so I suppose a lot of people would never know that it's there which is a shame.
Num has a great selection of all types of music and is more than happy to let you have a look through it and make requests. He also knocks up a mean cocktail and has a good selection of beers and spirits. His Wife Kean is just about the friendliest and sweetest person you could ever come across. I would often turn up at the bar for an early evening beer and then be asked to join them in eating dinner which they would order in.
I was also introduced to a number of their friends and family who were also lovely folk. One of Num's friends even took me out for a days kayaking in the Mangroves and his cousin took me out to dinner with her and a pile of her friends one evening.
There was always a nice cross section of both locals and tourists that patronised the bar which lead to a really nice ambience about the place. I had been staying at The Small Resort and recommended the place to a number of people that I'd met there and they all said that they'd had a nice time and been really well looked after also.
If you're in the area you should definitely check it out.
