Las Cabanas is the perfect home base for a happy and stress-free Mexico vacation. We stayed for a week and, after looking at all the other choices, we're convinced that it's the best place to stay in Loreto. The location is perfect if you want to stay in town and avoid the insularity of the resorts to the south, yet want a quiet and clean refuge. The pool area with shared tables, cooking areas, and hammocks is so clean, attractive, and nicely landscaped that we ended up spending several afternoons lounging around there. Yet it's steps to the beach and the malecon, and very close to good restaurants with sunset views. The rooms are nicely furnished and come with everything you need. The host and hostess, Rick and Jill, are extremely helpful and pleasant, and full of great information generously shared. They know the best places to eat, the best panga boat to rent, where to snorkle, which beaches are best, plus many tips about San Javier and Mulege side-trips. There is considerable turnover in restaurants in Loreto and most of our guidebooks were in need of updating, so it's great to have locals who have the most updated information. Frankly, I can't think of one thing about Las Cabanas that needs improving; we would come back again without hesitation. On a side note, same-sex couples might like to know that my partner and I were treated very graciously; this is the non-issue that we like to think it should be everywhere. You are welcome here.

I have stayed here twice now and I just love it! Jill and Rick are phenomenal hosts, Rick's photography is amazing, the location is perfect because you can walk everywhere in town, all of the comforts have been provided. Jill and Rick will help make arrangements for going out on the water, eating out, anything you need. Love it, love it, love it!

We have stayed at Las Cabanas three times in the last year and it and Loreto are rapidly becoming our home away from home. This is due to the wonderful hospitality given by Rick, Jill, and Linda and the top notch accomodations, attention to detail, great pool and landscaping, and numerous other amenities such as kayaks, bikes, snorkeling and picnic gear, movies galore, and a freezer to store the fish.
The last two trips we stayed in the new, second story casita which has two bedrooms with comfortable beds and pillows, large bath with tiled walk-in shower, cozy living room, a completely equipped full kitchen, and a private, covered outdoor balcony. The entire casita is decorated with Rick's amazing photographs, and other local art and artifacts. As if this wasn't enough there is satellite radio an even a classical guitar to practice my latino guitar licks. The wireless works great, too.
We have thoroughly checked out the other accomodations in Loreto and Las Cabanas is by far the best. We will return to Las Cabanas on our next visit.

Just returned from a great 3-night stay at Las Cabanas. We rented the entire property (main casa, casita and 4 cabanas) for a guys long-weekend. The property is beautiful, spacious, well-maintained, clean and chock full of amenities (e.g., pool and hot tub, bikes, kayaks, dozens of videos, poker table and chips, blow dryers in the rooms) - virtually everything you could want.
Jill and Rick are great hosts - they accommodated numerous reservation changes and gave great advice and assistance in planning and reserving fishing and snorkeling trips as well as restaurants. The huge pitcher of margaritas upon arrival wasn't bad either.
Staying at Las Cabanas made our trip a success - we visited a number of other hotels while we were there, but Las Cabanas was head and shoulders above any place else.

This was an experience we will always remember. My wife and I have vacationed in Mexico atleast 15 times and this was the best trip of them all. It was our second stay at Rick and Jill's Cabanas and we were treated like family. We arrived to fresh Margaritas, escorted to our room (which is throughly equiped) and then we enjoyed a 5;00 appitizer happy time to get aquainted with fellow guests. Everyone was totally pampered and the setting is quaint and intimate. A beautiful pool just steps away in a gated palmtree surrounded atmosphere, what more could you ask for. What you have is a peaceful experience with fishing, hiking, snorkeling, boating and great dining just steps away. And if bicycling is your thing they provide mountain bikes free of charge. Needless to say my wife and I have found somewhere to visit again and again for years to come. If peaceful, quiet, kicked back not wild party time Cancun is what you are seeking look no further.
