My husband and I booked three nights at Las Brisas, Acapulco. We took advantage of the free third night and got a casita with a private pool.
Reception staff were amazing, very polite and professional. Our stay was flawless and on top of everything we were given 500 Mexican pesos (about 25 pounds) for national drinks. Breakfast was delivered before seven in the purpose built "breakfast box", so no one knocking on your door early. Our room, pool, patio were cleaned daily thoroughly with the minimum inconvenience to us. Rooms were checked twice a day in case we needed fresh towels and to prepare the bed for the night time.
We also visited the beach club (transport provided by the hotel) and was lovely, a good rest away from our private pool. Service here is also impeccable and super friendly.
The only thing that marred our stay was police men extorting money out of us when driving from the Hotel to Acapulco Diamante. A warning to all people driving specially rented cars or cars from outside Acapulco. These policemen sit on the slope going from Acapulco City to Acapulco Diamante, if your number plates are not from Acapulco, they will stop you and allege that you are speeding. The speed limit on the downhill direction is 50 km/hr (super slow) my husband was not speeding but it was hard to know for sure. They threatened to take my husband's passport and the car documents for safe payment on the Monday (this was Saturday and had to go back to Mexico City on that day). When we asked him to show us the radar reading that proved we were speeding, he said that if he printed that, he would have to print the ticket and then there would be nothing he could do to "help us". He asked us for 3000 Mexican pesos (about 150 pounds) initially to write off the ticket. In the end, we gave him 600 pesos (about 30 pounds) and he let us go.
We felt so impotent and there was absolutely nothing we could have done. Be extra careful when driving out of Las Brisas either for a visit to Diamante or to drive away from Acapulco. These policemen are a shame on all the lovely Mexican people that made our stay one of the best. It is a shame that corruption is still flagrant in Mexico.
