Let me preface my comments by saying that I'm an experienced traveler, I speak Spanish fluently, and my husband is Mexican. Language and cultural differences were not a problem here....On the plus side, the property is big with several different pool, beach and restaurant options. In general, the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, there were lots of negatives, especially if you are traveling with small children or others who need special provisions. This hotel is poorly managed. 1) The rooms were marketed as having fridges and microwaves, but they were all removed for "updating". We were traveling with small children and needed to deal with storing and heating up milk for bottles. We did manage to get moved to a room with a fridge, but only after raising a stink and being told more than once that they did not having any rooms available. 2) The rooms are decent, but you need to walk down steps to get to the living area/kitchen. There is also a 3-foot drop off next to the step that isn't protected with a railing, so small children could very easily fall and get hurt. 3) Beautiful hills and landscape, however again, no railings. There are 10-12 feet drop-
offs on some of the roads in the villas that are on the hill. You need to be extra careful with small children and always hold their hand. 4) We called in advance to reserve a wheelchair and were told it wouldn't be a problem. When we got there, there were no wheelchairs available, and the hotel made no effort to find us one. We had to beg and offer to pay for a rental before they found us one. 5) First time in my life where a cash machine did not dispurse the correct funds (tried to take out $2000 pesos of a Banco Santander cash machine and only got $1600 pesos - though the receipt said $2000 pesos). The hotel called Banco Santander to let us talk with an agent, and they told us we needed to call our bank in the US. The hotel refused to cover the expense of the long-distance phone call back to our bank in the US, even though the cash machine is on their property. Some of the workers at the desk actually said that this isn't the first time this problem has happened. The manager was very rude and refused to help with this problem. Strongly recommend you do not use the cash machine on property. If you want pesos, get some before you get there. The airport only has one cash machine and it was out of service when we got there. The next closest cash machine is 20 minutes down the road from the resort in the opposite direction from the airport. 6) Forget trying to get decent towels in your rooms. Bring your own or use the ones from the pool. PS - if you're eating in the restaurant and the fans aren't turned on....don't look up...you might get really grossed out.
