We went to the resort for my 30th birthday and a family get away. It's a beautiful resort. If you like walking alot being this place is very spread out. Didn't bother us much but we read almost every review on here before we went and I have to say most people must be way to pampered. The food was average meaning not great and not bad. We did go to the Italian place and hated it (the food). Our group included myself, my husband and our 5 year old boy. They advertise babysitter services but when we called they told us it would be 290 pesos plus 180 pesos to get them there plus a time limit of 3 hours. We opted out of this being I guess they grab someone from the street and bring them in. So we suggest stay with you child. Its not worth it if something were to happen. We did everything, horseback riding (free), all the pools, the waterslides (but wasps and bees were so bad couldn't sit with them swarming around, jet skis, and well everything they offered. We go lots of places and average is all I can this place. Most didn't speak English at all. We stayed 3 nights and we were bored on the 3rd night, stuggling to find things to do on the last day. NEVER GO WITH MAGNA CHARTER

this was my families 6th time going to Club Maeva. As you could probably tell by the 6th time you should be enjoying it.i was there for 9 days over mid winterbreak.. i am 17 years old and this is my favorite spot to go on vacation. the beach is great but we dont go very much because of the extreme heat after awhile. the pool is the largest in Latin America, its pretty huge. they have 5 pools; the main pool, a kiddie pool, 1 at the kids club, the adult pool, and one at the waterslides. the waterslides are great too for kids, i even had fun. the maevamigos are super awesome and all are nice, one from canada especially was awesome. they put on great shows at night for all ages, the only thing i would complain about and they know this is that the shows are the same every week, no variety so if you are staying for more than a week you will see the same shows twice. the tropical hut is good if you like to dance, and you can also take your kids with you.they have contests such as beer drinking, limbo, arm wrestling, and dance.. on the other hand if u love to dance and dont want your kids around and want to see contests like Singles, and mens and womens leg contests than the Boom Boom Disco is right next door. its really loud though so if you dont like loud music i would stay away. the last time i was in maeva was for thanksgiving just a few months ago and we were in the 700's, that was quite a walk. if you dont like stairs and they put you up there i would suggest telling them to change you. i would bring my stuff down that i needed for the day and made sure i didnt have to go back up, and im young! this time they put us in the 200's which is right next to the pool and it was amazing. the beds were not that comfortable but i am used to them and the kids dont usually mind but the room was always clean and no bugs! there is so much to do, they have a variety of sports that they do everyday at 5pm along with water aerobics in the morning and tequila volleyball and beach games. we enjoyed having drinks all day that were VERY good. i dont know why people say that the water would make you sick because its bottled water and tastes like regular water that is fine to drink. no time that i have been here have i gotten sick.

another thing is that the medical care at meava is awesome. my dad had a dizzy spell on a thursday and they rushed an ER doctor right over to the resort since there isnt a doctor that is always there, and we had to go to the hospital which was only 5 minutes away and he got a shot. it worked amazingly on him and they really do have great medical service. if u ever have to go to the hospital, dont expect an American Hospital its very small and somewhere you wouldnt want to go often.
i would recommend club maeva to everyone and i am planning on going back again later this year and i miss everyone so much already!

“Great Vacation!!”

Club Maeva Manzanillo

My husband and I just returned from Club Maeva on Feb 1/06 and had a great vacation. Our villa was clean and complete with fridge, stove, etc. The Maeva Amigoes were very friendly and helpful and there is lots to do at this resort. We would highly recommend the deep sea fishing - we went twice as it was so great - saw lots of dolphins, turtles, whales, etc. and came back to shore with a sailfish! The food was good and the flea markets at the beach have a wide variety of wares. If you want to relax at the pool, take in the adult one as it is very clean and quiet (my husband and I are in our mid-50's so we spent a lot of time there). When we first checked in, they tried to put us in the 600 block, but thanks to the internet research I had done, we vetoed that accommodation in a hurry - too many stairs. We ended up in the 300 block which was terrific - quiet and far enough away from the "Boom Boom Disco" that we didn't hear it at night. Communication was not a problem as most of the staff spoke English, albeit not that well; however, we were in THEIR country so with our limited Spanish, we got by with no problems whatsoever. All in all, this is a great resort and highly recommended for a relaxing holiday.

“Total Relaxation - February 2006”

Club Maeva Manzanillo

What a fantastic week! My Husband and I just returned from Club Maeva this morning February 10,2006 from a one week stay and can't say enough of this resort! Coming from good ol cold Canada, we were looking for something relaxing but with some entertainment and the warmth of the sun.
Having never been anywhere before, and without our 2 children, I was happily surprised with this resort. Some found it noisy in the main pool area but the kids did not bother us one bit as they were not ours to keep a look on.
I had read many reviews prior to going taking in the bad & the good and decided to give it a whirl. This resort is rated at a 3 star which to many, including travel agents is a no no. I found it very clean, no bugs in our villa or beds, clean sheets and towels etc. There was loads to do day and night and a large abundance of different foods. If you are willing to try different types, textures and looks of foods you will be OK. If you are a picky eater, you may end up eating the burgers, hot dogs, fries and maccarroni salad for a week.
The recreational staff (3 amigos and the dancers)were non-stop entertainment, hillariously funny and great company during dining. Several were from Ontario and were very happy to hear some news from home.
If I had to complain about one thing it would be the hard beds. We found the living area couches more comfortable than the beds and spent a few nights there instead. Water in the resort area was good to drink and we are happy to say we did not get an upset stomach from drinking yummy strawberry ice drinks all week long.
The weather was hot and sunny the entire trip with not a cloud in the sky! In all we really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year this time with our kids who would also love the pottery painting, beaches and water slide/pools of the resort.
We met several other couples during our stay and made new friends from all around who we will keep in touch with and share pictures...Remember, you are in Mexico so pack all the bathroom stuff and Canadian goodies for late night snacks as they are limited.

“I wanna go back!”

Well I only went to this resort because of the great deal, I was so afraid after reading the reviews, but to my surprise everything was perfect our room was in the 660s and there is a great hike there not to mention the most majestic scenery, we got up early just to enjoy the "tequila sunrise" as we headed down to breaktfast. The room did take a day or two to get used to because it is an old resort but it was exeptionally clean, by Tues, we felt at home. I thought the beach was nice there was some trash at the end of the day that people left, however come morning it was all gone. The pools, the bars, the dining was great however we didn't realize that there were always two reastraunts open every meal until about Wed. At the waterslides they serve hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. Two great places to go to and dance or drink after dinner until early in the morning. Great activities to join in. The staff was incredible the service we recieved was better than 5 star I don't think many places here in the states could treat you better. We did get a buss to town and that bus driver remembered us, it was like everyone new us. Juan at the adult pool is so hardworking and is really fantastic! I did not realize that it was very family oriented, It has been mostly used by the upperclass Mexican families until just recently. There is a restaurant open for dinner across the beach bridge and go right and they have the dining area right over the beach, wouldn't have gone in there during the day but at night it is completly different, best seafood dishes! I have absolutley nothing negative to say, and I can't say enough good. Definatly try the excursions we did the ATV it was the best, we wanted to do the cruise, scuba, snorkeling, and fishing, but it does cost extra.
