“Great view!”

Tesoro Manzanillo

This all inclusive comes with a wonderful view of the bay or cove. The sunsets are beautiful.
The food was OK but alot of the same thing every day, The taco bar and Omlett bar were a good choice. The nightly entertainment actually seemed to have a better buffet then the buffet. The mexican eatery was excellent!

The room definately needed some sprucing up. The floor had large red paint drops on the white floor and the veneer was well worn on the furniture. Some of the furniture had large chunks of veneer tore off it but was painted over. We had a great balcony that was 10-12 feet square with a coulple of chairs. The chairs were meant to be cushioned and we just took the bed pillows and put them on the chairs. It sounded like some of the rooms were in better repair. The bed is soooooo hard and honestly not much different then sleeping on the floor. There was a large borad on the ceilig which was coming down in our room. There is a large safe in the room which was in a very convienient spot. The room was clean and the shower was great and the air conditioner worked wonderful.

We went on Good Friday and it was really busy. They also allow cruise ships to take day passes at the resort so it quickly became evident that there are no chairs or lounges. I have never been anywhere where there was such inconsideration when it came to chairs. A buddy watched people steal lounges from people who had placed a towel on one early in the morning. They often would put the towel on the ground and take the lounge to the other side of the pool. The person who is closet to the discarded towel often got blamed for taking the lounge. It really was dog eat dog.

There is a wonderful kiddy land with pool, slide etc but it was usually empty. There is also a kiddy pool beside the adult pool. However the kids were all in the adult pool with their floating toys. They hung out at the steps along with their parents who were sitting on the steps drinking and watching them. It was extremely difficult to get in and out of pool given no one was willing to move from the steps. The kids sat at the swim up bar (beside the steps) ordering drinks, taking a sip and leaving it and ordering another. They were cute but what a waste! If there was space and you could handle the noise and splashing a spot would become available(kids have short attention spans). By the end of tthe week many adults would not go in the pool because the water was so murkey and there were so many kids (basically it looked like a Where's Waldo Scene) .

I would go in a quieter time of the year next time and would only go if there was a really good deal.

We were not hounded by sales there so that was great. There is some vendors down the end of the beach but they are not hounding anyone.

We stayed at the Tesoro Hotel for 2 weeks. The staff were fantastic. Rooms were very clean, never had a problem with it. Entertainment daily and nightly. The entertainment staff really knew how to get the visitors involved. Booking extursions were very easy to do.Tour guides for them made them that more fun.

If you want a place where you can relax and have fun when you want. This is the hotel for you.

Overall Amazing Trip

I did a lot of research before booking at Tesoro, and I also read many of the comments here on Trip Advisor. I tend to agree that some people go on vacation to nit pick and I think that one has to read between the lines with these reviews. In my mind, if you’re on vacation, you are there to have fun, not to whine about your room, the fact that there wasn’t enough Canadian food on the buffet and that the sand was too gritty.

I went to Mexico, to lie under the Mexican sun, Eat Mexican food, Listen to Mexican music and drink tequila. Go figure… I did all of these things and had a wonderful time at Tesoro.

Check in was smooth and our room was spectacular, although my friend and I were assigned a room with a King size bed rather than 2 doubles, as we had booked. We went to the front desk to ask if we could be moved and they said we’d have to wait until Sunday. We decided to forget about it and stay in the room with the King since we wanted to unpack. It was a suite and there was a small corner bed in the living area, anyway. Our balcony was enormous and provided us with a fabulous view of the ocean, mountains and the lovely homes nearby. We were even able to sit on the window ledge of the balcony and sip tequila during our siestas. The bathroom was spotless with lovely marble and 2 sinks plus a vanity table for all my makeup and girlie crap. We didn’t think we’d watch a lot of tv, but after a day of drinking in the sun, we were happy to come back to the room and put on the Bandamax station and rock around to Banda music, or watch a subtitled movie to brush up on our Spanish.

The room attendants were sure to leave a surplus of fresh towels and one of them even organized our shoes and folded some clothes we had left on the floor. Not that we expected her to, but it was very nice of her!

I thought the food was wonderful, and I am a foodie who loves to both eat and cook. Yes, the buffet is a bit repetitive, but that’s what buffets are all about. The guacamole was out of this world and we ate tortillas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had this fabulous concoction of tortillas, fresh cheese, onions, and cilantro for breakfast. I woke each morning eager to have it. I wish I could remember the name of the dish but it yearn for it still. I don’t understand why travelers would expect to go to Mexico and not eat Mexican food. Especially Authentic Mexican food, not Tex Mex or boxed shells. I found the variety very satisfying and we were advised during the orientation that we could visit the a la carte restaurants as often as we wanted, despite what the brochure said.

The Italian was my favourite. They serve dinner in the Palapa on the ocean. The scenery and service were fantastic. It was great to eat outside in the soft wind. I started with the breaded Eggplant, which was really nice. My friend had the Ceasar Salad, but it was quite small. The presentation was lovely, but it would not have been enough for me. For our Entrees we chose the Veal Cordon Bleu in tomato sauce that was great, and I had the grilled fish with caper sauce. Not sure what kind of fish it is…maybe striped bass…but it was plentiful and delicious. Even my friend who normally doesn’t go for seafood ate it off the buffet whenever it was available.

Adobe, the Mexican restaurant was great, foodwise, but it is located next to the theatre and there was a really loud show going on while we were eating. No big deal, though. We drank margaritas and ate seafood crepes, poblano chile soup, beef fajitas and Mexican chocolate cake for dessert.

The service at both restaurants was amazing and we tipped them extra for it. I can’t emphasize how much tipping is appreciated. Not necessary, but appreciated. The brochures say that all gratuities are included, but most of the time, these servers don’t see anything extra form the resort itself. A little goes a long way. We have so much and a small amount of money to us, is a great deal for them.

We also ventured into town to visit the taco stands. Our fave was Tacos Y Tacos, across from Wal Mart of all places. The tacos el Pasteur are still fresh in my mind…the smell of toasted maize from the corn tortillas, and the sauces ranging from mild tomatillo, to a fiery raw onion and habernero. The music brassy and joyful and the tv outside so they can watch their soaps… Please take me back…

The pool at the resort was wonderful and clean. The swim up bar was great. Everyone complains about the lounge chairs…it’s really not a big deal. We just found chairs that were abandoned by their owners and sat there. If they came back, we moved. It was nice to get a change of scenery.

All in all I loved this hotel. It was not a crazy party place like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, but it was picturesque with it’s lovely white stucco and marble floors, sweeping arches, open halls, excellent hospitality and a chance to get away from it all.

My Mum and I have just returned from a week at the Tesoro Manzanillo Resort, we stayed from March 28th to April 4th.
The weather was fantastic all week and the service was magnificent. We met loads of staff that made us feel very welcome and they were very friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The food and entertainment was fantastic as well as the views from the beach and the room we stayed in. We would go back and stay again for sure. Thanks to all the staff, including Payo, Fernando (Mr. Hockey), Mara, Brittany, Jesus, Enriquez, Patti (best of luck with the new baby), Rosie & Jean Clement (JC) & also Eduardo for a HoLiDaY of a LIFETIME! We will see you all again very soon!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Tesoro from March 14th-21st. I haven’t been on a vacation in 14 years and I had the time of my life here. We were looking for a week of sun and rest... and that's exactly what we received! This resort is absolutely beautiful… the employees are wonderful and go out of their way to make sure you are happy. The rooms were very clean and the mini-fridge was restocked everyday. We were on the first floor right in front of the pool so it was wonderful in the mornings when you had to reserve a seat as all we had to do was throw our beach towels from our backyard area! The breakfast was very good… a large assortment of goodies to choose from. The fresh omlette’s were amazing! The taco stand is really good as well, the best tacos I’ve ever had! We didn’t eat dinner too much, but from what we had it was good as well. The buffet restaurant has great hours so we didn’t have to rush around The pool was a little chilly most of the time, but refreshing when your out in the sun for a while. The swim up bar wasn’t too packed, but the other side of it was always busy. When you sit around the pool or on the beach there are always girls coming around serving drinks so I didn’t find myself going to the bar very often. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. They always had activities for all ages to do on the beach as well. The Saturday flea market was awesome… it’s about a 40 minute walk from the resort but well worth it to see … you can get some great bargains there as well! If you walk about 40 minutes the opposite direction of the flea market there is a Wal-Mart, Burger King, Subway, Dominos and Burger King if you need a little bit of home ;)… There are also two malls, one before and after Wal-Mart that have a lot of great stuff. We got Mexican soccer jerseys for 500 pesos which was a great price for a jersey. The weather is the same everyday… hot and sunny! It hasn’t rained there since October 17th! Overall the week was perfect… I really couldn’t have asked for more. I will definitely be visiting this resort again!
