We recently returned from a one week vacation at the Tesoro Manzanillo Resort, returning April 4th. We had had some contact with Veronica, who works at the resort, and as a result, we had a great room with a wonderful view. We were located in the center of the resort, 2nd floor, with a perfect view of the pool and the bay. Outstanding sunsets.

Our room was left spotless for us each day, lots of towels, with some towel art and lots of hibiscus flowers over the bed, and the fridge always filled with refreshments. The staff, from the front desk, to our servers, to the entertainment team, were all wonderful. Always a smile to give and a friendly "Hola".

The food was ok. The buffet was a little repetitive, but we always found something great to eat. The breakfast buffet was always good, with a nice selection of fresh fruit and breads. The omelet bar was very good and the coffee was great.

The scenery was beautiful. A couple times we took walks up through the steep hills on the cobblestone road and the view was amazing as there is a bay on either side of the road.

We spent alot of our time either walking the beach (very rough surf, so you have to be careful) or lounged around the pool. We read about the difficulty of getting lounge chairs, but after the weekend was over, you really had your pick until about 10am. Many thanks to Silvia for her great service, and always a smile on her face. The entertainment staff were just that, entertaining. There were lots of laughs to be had with the water games, dance lessons, etc. The best was the hockey game on the beach - Mexico vs Canada and the US (the Mexicans lost that one!!!)

All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. It was everything that we wanted and more. We met some wonderful people during our stay, so Hola to Tom and Sue, Rick, Sandy and their clan, Ida and Roque, Emma and Kate (the "Uxbridge" girls), and our little friend we called "Lewis", whose real name is Alex. And many thanks to Veronica, Oscar, Brittany, Stephanie, Silvia, "Super Chewy" for making our stay so enjoyable.

“24 Hrs in Tesoro Manzanillo”

Flew in on a Saturday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon, yup 24hrs! So heres the SHORT low down.

Room:
-We were given a 14th floor room with an AMAZING VIEW!
-Very clean beddings, bathroom, towels
-Balcony 2 chairs table BUT when you sit down all you see is the balcony inside wall. So to see the amazing sight, you just have to stand and lean on the blacony. The bars or a plexi-glass would've been great.
- AC wasn't working but it was a mild day so it wasn't needed.

All inclusive food:
-The hotel website said the was avaible 24/7, but there was a wedding and the "snack shack" was close. Bummer, we were starved when we arrived, so we walked down the beach and risked it, bought some local pasteries from a vender with a bucket to hold the goodies. THEY WERE GREAT! So cheap, $0.07 cents for 2 pastry, custard and an upside down pineapple cake! Woohoo!
-DRINKS DRINKS DRINK is availble 24/7!

Dinner time:
-The selection wasn't very big, we wished they had a lot more seafood selection, but what they had was GREAT!
-We skipped the dinner show and op'd for night beach walk

Beach @ Night:
RELAXING! Just grab a lounge chair and drag it to the waters edge. Warm sea breeze, waves splashing, a faint disco music and STARS STARS STARS at night! Reason to skip out on the didinner show

Breakfast:
Typical selections, omlette bar, pancakes, latin foods...etc.

Beach @ Day:
The beach was a great relief from the humid air BUT when it got hotter as the morning progressed, the water started turnning brown, it think it was algae reacting to the weather air temp. So best time to jump into the water was early morning.

Hotel Internet:
Only when you are in the lobby area, in the general area of the hotel from door! NO INTERNET ACESS IN THE ROOMS!

****Insider note about the room Safe Box
Do Not Use a credit card BUT... an expired STARBUCK'S gift card. We were just mess'n around with to see if it would work, and it did! We guess it just needs a magnetic stripe to use as a "Thing-a-ma-jiggy" as a reference code, or what ever, it worked.

Tipping:
We tipped every hotel staff that help us out- bartender, bellboy, towel attendant, waiters, some kid who we asked to take our picture, the pastier guy down the beach, souvenir vendor etc. We didn't have to tip, but its just plain cool! Your smiling they're smiling!
20 pesos for hotel staff
50 for the cabbie

24hr in Tesoro Manzanillo great way to RELAX!

“AAA+++ The Best Vacation Ever!!”

Tesoro Manzanillo

11 Apr 2008
5/6 found this review helpful

I am a frequent Mexico Destination Vacationer.. And this was the best vacation yet!!
The whole experience at Tesoro was fantastic from start to finish. Check-in was a breeze to the bellboys while we were leaving for the airport hopping in the cab with us!! Gave us quite a laugh, and I didn’t want to leave.
I cannot express enough on how much the Entertainment team made our vacation so much fun!! You are so talented and just an amazing group!! You had us laughing and very entertained our entire stay. We miss you… Jesus (SuperChewy), Payao, Brittany, Stephanie, Mara, Enriquez, Beto, Rico and the rest of the gang!! We had a great time dancing with you at the Disco, the pajama party was really cute and the Club Crawl on Friday night was a blast!!! The beach party was soooooooooo much fun. I have never laughed so hard in my life!! And Thank you for the Dance lessons by the pool—oh so much fun—Beto and Jesus you are Awesome Dancers Instructors!!

We spent our days by the beach or at the pool and Silvia was AMAZING!! Thank you so much for such wonderful service.

The Dinner and Shows were fantastic. The food was fantastic. Full of flavor, and so much to choose from. They had a variety for everyone. I have been to several all inclusive resorts where they just cannot seem to get the food right—too bland, not enough flavor or too dry. Tesoro’s food was amazing. The Entertainment staff did an excellent job with the nightly Shows… great performances! And the Service from either the Buffet or Restaurants was wonderful. The Tesoro has a fantastic wait staff.

All of the staff at the Tesoro really pay attention to detail. Our rooms were impeccably clean, lots of towels, cold refreshments everyday. Those little touches go along way! There was one day when there was a lot of water from the pool that spilled onto the pool deck and the maintenance person took the time to sweep up the water off the deck so that no one slip and get hurt!! I was amazed… now that is service down to the very last detail!!

I could go on an on about what a fantastic time and experience we had… but you will just have to go and see for yourself!!!

Side Trips:
Snorkel Trip—Ok, but have been spoiled by the Caribbean and Hawaii. The water was a little choppy that day and the water clarity wasn’t that great. But the Tequila shots were!!
Turtle Sanctuary—Once in a lifetime experience! We happened to be there on the right day and time to let 3 day old baby turtles out into the sea. They were so cute and those little guys really go through a lot on their voyage. Also had a panga boat ride into the mangrove sanctuary and saw crocodile and many species of birds.
Massage at Aurora Spa: Fantastic!!

“Great view!”

Tesoro Manzanillo

This all inclusive comes with a wonderful view of the bay or cove. The sunsets are beautiful.
The food was OK but alot of the same thing every day, The taco bar and Omlett bar were a good choice. The nightly entertainment actually seemed to have a better buffet then the buffet. The mexican eatery was excellent!

The room definately needed some sprucing up. The floor had large red paint drops on the white floor and the veneer was well worn on the furniture. Some of the furniture had large chunks of veneer tore off it but was painted over. We had a great balcony that was 10-12 feet square with a coulple of chairs. The chairs were meant to be cushioned and we just took the bed pillows and put them on the chairs. It sounded like some of the rooms were in better repair. The bed is soooooo hard and honestly not much different then sleeping on the floor. There was a large borad on the ceilig which was coming down in our room. There is a large safe in the room which was in a very convienient spot. The room was clean and the shower was great and the air conditioner worked wonderful.

We went on Good Friday and it was really busy. They also allow cruise ships to take day passes at the resort so it quickly became evident that there are no chairs or lounges. I have never been anywhere where there was such inconsideration when it came to chairs. A buddy watched people steal lounges from people who had placed a towel on one early in the morning. They often would put the towel on the ground and take the lounge to the other side of the pool. The person who is closet to the discarded towel often got blamed for taking the lounge. It really was dog eat dog.

There is a wonderful kiddy land with pool, slide etc but it was usually empty. There is also a kiddy pool beside the adult pool. However the kids were all in the adult pool with their floating toys. They hung out at the steps along with their parents who were sitting on the steps drinking and watching them. It was extremely difficult to get in and out of pool given no one was willing to move from the steps. The kids sat at the swim up bar (beside the steps) ordering drinks, taking a sip and leaving it and ordering another. They were cute but what a waste! If there was space and you could handle the noise and splashing a spot would become available(kids have short attention spans). By the end of tthe week many adults would not go in the pool because the water was so murkey and there were so many kids (basically it looked like a Where's Waldo Scene) .

I would go in a quieter time of the year next time and would only go if there was a really good deal.

We were not hounded by sales there so that was great. There is some vendors down the end of the beach but they are not hounding anyone.

We stayed at the Tesoro Hotel for 2 weeks. The staff were fantastic. Rooms were very clean, never had a problem with it. Entertainment daily and nightly. The entertainment staff really knew how to get the visitors involved. Booking extursions were very easy to do.Tour guides for them made them that more fun.

If you want a place where you can relax and have fun when you want. This is the hotel for you.
