“The epitome of a dated timeshare”

The epitome of a dated timeshare, old rooms, old snowbirds, macramé activity center and an electric organ during dinner.
Three days at this hotel during a conference were about my limit. The rooms are clean, but very dated and the furnishings match the overall look. Check in and staff are average, food is average – everything was average. The electronic organ playing during lunch and dinner was the limit for me.
This hotel is very good at catering to its primary customer – seniors from northern US and Canada – nothing wrong with this, but if you don’t fit the mould you probably won’t enjoy the stay.

We stayed at Pueblo Bonito over the Christmas and New Year holidays. This is the best resort we have ever stayed at. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We had an absolutely lovely room with a great view of the ocean. The restaurants were extremely good, the buffets were out of this world. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We will go back next year and more years to come. We didn't want to come home. Thank you Pueblo Bonito for such a great vacation.

“Friendly, Helpful Staff!! Excellent Vacation Spot!!”

Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan

We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan for one week from December 29th - January 5th/08.

We were treated like kings and queens all week!! They really know how to give great service at this resort!!

Our Family of four plus one friend were checked in quickly and they offered to upgrade us to a larger suite with 2 bathrooms. My husband was the only boy with four of us girls so two bathrooms was a must!!!

The suite was beautiful with a separate bedroom, kitchenette, living room and extra large balcony overlooking the ocean and the beach. What a view!! The sunsets were spectacular!!!

We found the room to be very quiet and well cleaned every day.

A tip: Bring your own coffee and sugar etc. to avoid using the coffee provided - they charge for that. They also charge for the water bottles supplied in room but you can purchase that and other grocery items across the street at the little supermarket.

Make sure to tip the maid every day to insure great service!

The restaurants are very good on the resort but we found them a bit expensive - we mostly ate at the wide variety of food establishments within walking or pullmonia (taxi) distance. Our favorites were - Heather's Place for Breakfast and the Villa Italia for great Pasta and Pizza.

A tip: Bring a sweater for the evenings as it does cool off quite a bit - especially if you plan to ride in the open air "pullmonia" taxis.

The pool areas are fantastic with Cabanas and umbrellas for shade if you need it. The waiters will bring you drinks and food by the pool & on the beach (for a fee of course) or you could charge the food & drink to your room. The service was excellent and the waiters are very friendly and fun!! The pools are heated and immaculately clean. There is a swim up bar but we never saw anyone actually use it. The beach is nice and sandy with an abundance of sea shells to collect.

The ocean was freezing cold and quite rough so we never went boogie boarding at all! The resort put up a red warning flag to let everyone know the ocean was too rough for swimming. Our kids went para-sailing one day which was great!! Very safe, nice gentle landings. $25.00 per person seems to be the going rate although you may have to bargain with them a bit.

As for timeshare pressure - We were approached only a couple of times on the street but never once by the Pueblo Bonito Staff. All you have to do is say "no" politely and they leave you alone.

We would definately stay at the Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan again and we recommend this resort to anyone!!

My husband and I spent 9 days at the Emerald Bay Resort. It was the most beautiful place we have stayed at. The people were outstanding. The service was first class. The only problem was the food at the resort. It was probably the worst food we have ever had at such a nice place. We met many people that felt the same way. Fortunately, the town is very close and there are many wonderful places. We would go back again but prepare for meals out of the resort.

“Best all round place to stay in fabulous Mazatlan!”

Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan

We are an older but very active couple who have been vacationing in Mazatlan at least once yearly since the l980's. We own at Royal Villas, Marina el Cid, El Cid Tower, Marina del Rey, Playa Bonito, and Solmar, as well as a Penthouse Suite at Pueblo Bonito. We agree with the reader comments made recently with a few exceptions.
Angelo's failed to keep our window reservation. On our return, the service and food was poor, as well as pricey. Would not return there or to Sr Pepper's accross the street. Food and service have been great at Hacienda de la Flor in the lobby at Royal Villas, with prices reasonable.
Very difficult to deal with Marina del Rey where they have tried to charge us for items already in our contract and for paid maintenance fees years ago.
We especially enjoy the performances at the Angelo Peralta Theater, usually eatling at Pedro and Lola's before. Take cash to pay for theater tickets. Schedule is listed in the local English Pacific Pearl newspaper.
Penthouse Suites are lovely at Pueblo Bonito, very comfortable, great vews, maid service, but no automatic dishwasher! Of all our world travels using time shares, staying at PB is by far the best.!
