My husband and I have been to Mazatlan before and opted for this hotel for its location and convienence.
The room was kept exceptionly clean by the maids--even if we left the thanks but no thanks card on the door and bed.
The halls were rather noisy at times, but once people made it inside their room, it was quiet. The walls were pretty much sound proof.
The pools were refreshing. I liked the fact that they were naturally heated by the sun throughout the day.
The beach was gorgeous and the palapas provided much needed shade. It was also nice the hotel provided beach towels every day for guests.
It was pretty much impossible to avoid the annoying vendors when you were on the beach, but you could find serenity by the pool area.(which still has a view of the ocean)
Joe's Oyster Bar was pretty calm during our stay--just typical bar noise until midnight.
The worst experiece of our stay was when 100 Mexican students from a nearby college came to the hotel. They were constantly partying and sceaming nonstop until 6am. When they weren't at the pool disrupting all of the other guests vacations, they were running up and down the halls squeaking thier shoes, ayayaying, and pressing every elevador button on every floor so no one could use the elevador. Needless to say, they were eventually kicked out. Thank God.
Overall this place was great. We would stay there again.
