“Back to my home away from home”

Las Flores Beach Resort

21 Mar 2008

I stayed at Las FLores for the third time this year. I am always happy to return to my second home....The staff is what makes this place so special. The bar and lobby staff always are happy to see you return.
The only problem I encountered this year was the cold weather...Not a problem of the hotel. It was cold even for a Canadian....That is saying alot because I am from Northern Manitoba...a very cold climate. I am glad I stayed for two weeks bcause it got warmer the second week.
Las Flores has the best beach in Mazatlan and I enjoy visiting with the locals. I had an oceanview kitchenette and I always find the kitchen handy. I made shrimp in my room and had a feast!!! I love the location of Las Flores right in the Golden Zone with everything you need nearby.
I would definitely stay there again!

We have stayed at Los Flores twice now.

We have found it to be wonderful! If people want luxury at a bargain basement price, please go elsewhere.

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. If you don"t like their Espanol, go learn some! It will brighten your vacation immensely.

The beach is the best and the sunsets will stay with you forever.

There are restaurants and fun shopping places everywhere close by. Be adventurous and do a walk-about, it"s fun.

Sure the burning in the countryside is a problem and the nightly music noise is a concern. I'm bringing earplugs this time when we go back in two weeks.

The beds were great in the suites, and I have major back problems. I wanted to take mine home with me!

No matter where a person stays, they can find something to gripe about. My only gripe was that I couldn't stay longer.

The Mexican people that we have met have become like family to us and we will enjoy and look forward to seeing them again.

First the good news, we got an ocean view room. The housekeeper tried her best to make sure that we have enough towel/soap supply. The location is very good - accessible to everything - bus/taxi/restaurants. Now the bad news - the bathroom stinks, the drain does not work well, there are ants in the sink - almost daily, there are bird poop in the balcony ledge, the room is not properly sound proof - I do not mind the ocean waves but not when I am sleeping at night! Also, the TV is so outdated (I know I should not be watching TV on my vacation but hey - I have to stay in the room sometimes!) No room service after 10 PM. Also a lady at the entrance kept harrasing us to view a model suite for a condo she is trying to sell us. I am sure I told her a hundred times I was not interested. Overall, I will not coming back to this hotel nor will I recommend this to my friends.

We stayed @ Las Flores Feb-Mar 2008. We had not been to Mazatlan before( just Puerto Vallarta and Mayan Riviera) We went with another couple we have travelled with before who have been to Mazatlan many times and had last stayed @ Las Flores in 1997.
They were quite excited to hear the hotel had undergone renovations as they liked the location but found the hotel dated even then. The lobby, bar and pool areas were updated, sadly the rooms were not. The rooms were gloomy and very worn looking. The poor dingy tile work and dark ceilings remain, the green tile all over the bathroom is even more dingy and ugly. While we didn't expect a lot we would have enjoyed a few little luxuries like dish soap, a dish cloth or ( I know I am asking a lot) a microwave or hairdryer. The beds were the hardest we have ever encountered in Mexico, the pillows the lumpiest. As we booked through Signature vacations we were only allowed certain rooms in the south tower. The desk staff did their best to accomodate when we were unhappy that the first room we were given had a view that was mostly the side of the front tower and after a few different rooms( one was under the laundry and was very noisy) we settled on a room on the 11th floor with a fabulous view. The drawback to being on the 11th floor is that sound travels upwards very efficiently. There are a couple of bars a few blocks away which like to play music with the maximum base booming till 4AM. If you are looking to get to sleep before that time, this is not the hotel for you. We didn't try the restaurant, the bar had good drinks but was somewhat pricey compared to what you would pay a block away for the same thing. All in all, the restaurants in the area were great and the sunsets were amazing. The location in the Golden zone was great but we wouldn't recommend this hotel as there are many more nicer hotels in the approximate price range in the area.

The staff was unfriendly, the rooms were ugly, the beds were hard and the timeshare specialists were very pushy. The lounge chairs by the pool were broken. The water in the shower was yellow and the elevator dirty. The room was clean but very dated. The price was right due to the location. The view from the balcony was beautiful. We made the mistake of staying at Pueblo Bonito first, then staying here for 4 days. It was a very depressing move.
