I stayed at Marina del Rey for 4 months and I loved it. I arranged everything through a rental agency and the owners took care of everything. The first thing I noticed is that Marina del Rey does not feel like a hotel (which is probably what I liked the most). The unit was spotless and the workers were really nice. I did not see a single cockroach... I think only timeshare units have that problem. The beach was nice and private, sunsets amazing! It was a bit noisy but being from LA - it was music all the way. I disagree with the previous posts, but I can see that if you were expecting your typical timeshare resort, then definitely this one falls short.

Just spent 2 weeks at the Marina Del Rey. The great part is that the suites are huge and the beach is wonderful, not too many vendors to bother you! There are also some great people working there like Michael, Rosario and Manual...however that is pretty much where it ends. The room was very dirty when we arrived and we went out to buy our own cleaning products as it was unacceptable. However the maids quickly got it clean within the next day or 2...the maids are very willing to help and are appreciated. We did not see even 1 cockroach as was previously reported and were very happy about that. There are 50 units and 20 are owned by full time residents. It was not our first time there as we were there with timeshare owners. There were many people at the desk daily complaining about something, and did not seem to be getting any satisfaction, and they were timeshare owners. It does not seem to be the problem with the staff as much as a problem with the actual owner, who does not seem to be interested in having people own timeshares any more. It's too bad he is not operating in good faith until the timeshare owners use up all of their weeks, and then moving on to full time ownership as he seems to want. We however made the best of it, and had a wonderful vacation.

We are "owners" (I say this very lightly) at MDR. We have been for 9 years. We can no longer book our unit due to the fact that several of the units are now owner occupied year round, and the other units are sold as nightly hotel rooms. The staff WILL NOT assist you with anything. Do not give them your credit card. The cockroaches are expanding their family year by year. The road and beach are public access. There is alot of "partying" late at night on the road and the beach area. Stay here at your own risk. I know that there are several more up to date "ethical" places in wonderful Mazatlan!!

We had to leave our lights on in the room so the cockroaches wouldn't swarm us. It may be that there was a family living in the room next to ours that couldn't be fumigated when the exterminators came.

Also every room has a transformer so it buzzed all night long, which, made it impossible to sleep.

The restaurant was never open. We would try to go in and they would politely tell us it was closed.

Beds were rock hard!

The location and view was great and they did provide bottle water.

“Roomy suite”

Marina Del Rey Beach Club

We managed to secure two rooms, one bedroom and a suite. More room than we needed. Everyone at the hotel was friendly. Check-in/ check out were a breeze. Hotel has a nice beach, small heated pool, buses stop about every 5-15 minutes. Easy access to restaurants. Not in the golden zone, but north of Marina. There is a lot of new construction in the area, so a bit noisy. Would recommend if large family, over 2400 square feet in suite. One king upstairs, two doubles down with a pull out couch, also had two bath w/ showers. Beds were hard as mentioned in previous review by another, but in Mazatlan if your out fishing or on the beach, when you're tired...it's nice to have a clean, secure, and friendly place to hang your hat. Our suite had a patio on both sides. Also had a jacuzzi, but we didn't feel comfortable using it. Both units had a kitchen area, with a full size stove and refrigerator.
