It's not so bad! People just need to ask questions, and will find out this hotel has more to offer.

Rooms are nice; spacious, clean, large kitchen, amazing shower/bath tub- unlimited hot water (hours) and enough room for two people sitting side by side, awesome ocean view on balconies.

Pool was so warm! Swim up bar was nice. Pool was clean.

There was aqua aerobics in the pool a few times a week. There was a Mexican fiesta at the Oceano Palace (sister hotel) one evening with Mexican singers and dancers. You JUST HAD TO ASK where it was (in the basement), in order to find it! There was also relatively nice boogie boards available for free use at the Oceano Palace, JUST ASK IF THEY HAVE ANY. Saves from paying $5 to rent them on the beach. They also have board games, footballs, frisbees, and volleyballs- just ask.

The food was the worst part. But not terrible. Just a little repetitive and mundane; potatoes, beans, chicken, soup, etc. Breakfast was good, they will make you omletes. There is an all inclusive menu available, but YOU HAVE TO ASK for it. Can order from it for free, all day. Yummy mexican salsa and guacamole is a good poolside snack. I would recommend venturing out to try other restaurants a few times though.

There are large beach towels available at the pool. Bath towels, hand towels, and face cloths were all available in the rooms. After we left the maid a tip, she continued to leave us more towels each day. Nothing stolen, maid seemed nice.

Safety deposit boxes in each room are nice. Elevator stopped working a few times when we were there. Air conditioned hallways were fffreezing at night! Mostly middle aged to older people seemed to stay at the Luna Palace.

Weather wasnt that nice while we were there. A little windy and cloudy. Beach vendors hound you, but you can get them to barter to a pretty good deal. Sand is sooo soft. Ocean is cold.

Many people recommended the Purple Onion across the street, but I would not. The food was good. Service poor. We left the guy a $5 American Tip and he laughed and said "thats it? pff I usually get 20%" Very rude. It was standard 10% for less than average service.

It was an awesome hotel, high recommend it. It is at a good location, and looked much nicer than many nearby hotels!

Stayed 6 nights at the Luna Palace. We didn't opt for the all inclusive and glad we didn't, the food and food service were all school cafeteria quality. However there are plenty of nearby resturants to choose from. Our room was clean enough. the maid service friendly (I tipped them 5 bucks a day and that may be why) My 3 boys loved the pool and beach area, but the ocean was too cold for me. All in all a 3 star enjoyable hotel for the money. Eat at Restuarant Costa Mainera for great seafood; and Villa Italiana if you get tired of Mexican. Breakfst across the street at the Purple Onio was always good as was another open air spot to the right and just a stones throw down the street past the souvineer vendors.

I wouldnt waste your time or money on the Stone Island tour; Rent your ATV or Jet skis on the beach instead. The canopy/tequila factory tour is first rate but expensive and the boys did enjoy that.

Overall our stay was alright. The hotel wasn't the greatest but we didn't stay much at the resort. The rooms themselves were great. We somehow got upgrated into a suit on the top floor so the view was amazing. We spent a lot of time just sitting on our balcony. After visiting the hotel site off of the Signature Vacations web site, we expected more from the hotel. We were quite dissapointed. There were no activities during the day. There was supposed to be spanish lessons, dancing lessons and more. Also, there was no nightly entertainment. Someone from the "activity" crew (whom I caught sleeping a few times) sent us to a hotel for a mexican fiesta and when we got there, there was nothing going on. Also, there was suppose to be non motorized sports, but they didn't have that either. The hotel only has a buffet. If you order from the menu, you had to pay more. There was supposed to be an a-la-carte restaurant, but it doesn't exist. The meals were very repetitive and everything seemed to taste the same. It didn't matter if you had the beef...or chicken... Least to say, we ate out a lot. We were careful with what we ate and drank so no one got sick. I'd return again to Mazatlan. There's still a lot I didn't see. I'm not sure if I'd stay at the same place again. It wasn't bad but I'm sure there are better places out there.

“Absoluty Terrible”

Luna Palace Hotel

5 Jan 2008

We just returned from a week at this dump. The "ONLY" positve thing that I can say is that the suites were big with good views. The hotel was understaffed, untrained and over worked. The description of the hotel is misleading to say the least. There is only one place to eat and the "buffet" (for a lack of a better word) choices were limited and it didn't matter what they served, it was "cold". They say they have an all inclusive menu...they do, you just can't order from it. Snack bar? Looked for it, never did find it!!! If you want good food go across the street to Heather's Place. Good service, good food, good prices!!!
There was no entertainment, no water sports and no service. The bar service was terrible!!! No supplies on a daily basis and in fact, one day it didn't open up until 1 in the afternoon. I brought up our groups concerns and the management did nothing to rectify anything. In fact, it seemed to get worse. The rooms appear clean until you take a closer look. The maids did the bare minimum to say the least. Getting clean towels on a regular basis was a challenge. It appears that the problems at this hotel are compounded by the the staff from Signature vacations. They were never there and when we complained nothing was done. I will never recommend this hotel or SIGNATURE to anyone!

We took our staff of 9 employees to the Luna Palace for Christmas. The Hotel and location was beautiful. Good thing we had low
expectations because it was better than we anticapated.

The Rooms were nice clean, big (we found out theres a extra charge for
puking in your bed.)TOO much TEQUILLA!!!!

Sore back from the beds. Beautiful view from balcony. It was low season so it was extremly quiet. The buffet was closed and it had one Ala Carte Restaurant. With a very small menu. Food was OK if you liked
clubhouses. The bOOZE POURED UNLIMITED. The beer was always cold and the bartenders were lots of fun. The pool was nice and warm. Lots of fish action on the ocean(we seen a huge whale). In all it was Great for a 3 STAR holiday (REMEBER 3STAR RATED MEXICAN is NOt The same standards of 3Star Canadian! But go with an open and optimistic mind and you'll have an AWESOME time!
