I am now a regular and go back as many times as I can. This is my fourth stay.
The location is so convenient, the rooms are so pleasant.
But the best part is the people.... Hosts Moe and Dorothy Faith are so helpful in getting me into the pulse of Mazatlan, letting me know what is new and where to go to eat, shop, or just to see what is happening.
The location was especially good this time as the fireworks on the beach would have kept me awake all night.... but where the B&B is lets you have a wonderful meal at Pancho's then walk for about five minutes, sit on the roof, and see all the fireworks from afar......
Definitely a keeper....

My girlfriend and I do a lot of traveling and usually at the last minute. After checking the weather around the world, we chose Mazatlan as our destination. After figuring that out, we went to tripadvisor to find a place to stay.

Everything that is written about Capt. Mo and Dorothy is absolutely true! The rooms were roomy and comfortable, the breakfasts were fresh and plentiful and Mo & Dorothy are the perfect hosts. Every morning we met at the outdoor breakfast table for a relaxing chat and planning for the day. (And , of course, their sweet dog Zoe joined us.) They helped us plan some incredible events; including restaurants, beaches and activities.

Keep in mind, although the location is not beach front, you can wonder down about two blocks to some very nice (and overly expensive) timeshare hotels and use their beachfronts and pools for the price of a beverage. Then, at night, you can go back to the quiet and serenity of Capt. Mo's.

In all honesty, there was one drawback of staying at this wonderful B&B - HAVING TO LEAVE! It was like leaving new found family!

On our next journey to Mazatlan, at least our choice of accomodations will be a "no-brainer".

We spent 3 nights at Captain Moe's on our way from Danville, CA to San Miguel de Allende, where we are wintering. We travel in our 1987 VW Westfalia van with our pug and were happy to find lodging that would accept Sydney Sue as part of our package. Sydney Sue and Zoe, la perrita de la casa, had a brief misunderstanding over a snack, but got past that in a hurry and peacefully coexisted for the rest of our stay. Moe and Dorothy are kind, considerate, generous, knowledgable and very laid back. Our room (#2) was spacious, clean and very comfy. We had no concerns about our van on the street in front of Moe's and the neighborhood is muy mexicana, and very convenient to restaurants and services. Breakfast was all we could eat, with fresh fruit, cereal, eggs and toast), (if you want them), yogurt, juice and great coffee. All said, I would give Moe and Dorothy 5 stars and heart-felt thanks for a terrific stay.

We recently enjoyed a delightful stay with Captain Moe, Admiral Dorothy and their canine deckhand Zoe. Booked direct with their toll free number. Cost was $60 and included a couple of phone calls home to let everyone know we arrived OK. Our room opened direct onto the garden. The bed was very comfortable (unusual in Mexico). The private bath was basic but very acceptable. Breakfast was coffee, juice, bagels with cream cheese, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt and eggs if you wanted them. The breakfast was wonderful but not as good as the conversation.

Captain Moe is a retired riverboat (barge freight) captain who worked the Mississippi, Ohio and Missouri Rivers. He now likes to ride motorcycles and generally enjoy life. His wife Dorothy is a jewel. She offers up social commentary al a Andy Rooney except she is funnier. Their banter on life in Mazatlan (restaurants, bars, grocery stores, shopping etc), Mexico in general, visits back to the US, politics both places, economic circumstances, etc was quite enjoyable. They have a large cooler stocked with beer to enjoy on the honor system that you put a dollar in the can. The garden features a large table where we enjoyed both the cervesa in the evening and breakfast in the morning. They also have a rooftop sitting area where you can see the ocean and enjoy your beer if the weather is pleasant.

The dog Zoe enjoys attention but makes it clear it will be recieved on her terms. You can pet me if I am close but I won't come when you call.

We had a great visit. We felt so much more confident for the rest of the week (went into our timeshare the second day) relying on their great advice and knowing we had friends to call on if we needed help. Thank you Captain and crew!!

We planned to visit Mazatlan over the busy Easter holiday and were surprised to find that our reservations at Marina El Cid didn't start until Sat. and we were to arrive on Good Friday! (yikes) In a panic, I searched Trip Advisor for alternate accomodations and was beyond lucky to have found Captain Moe's!! It was awesome! We arrived ,had a cold drink and immediately felt at home. We enjoyed hearing Moe's stories about the Merchant Marines and Dorothy recounting what brought them to Mazatlan and the extensive remodeling to their home! It was fun to get a glimpse of the life that they've built South of the Border. They don't normally have many kids stay there as they don't have a pool,etc... but my 4 kids (9-17) LOVED it there! My son,Coop, loved that he could talk to Dorothy at length about Flat Stanley and my daughters got the lowdown from Dorothy about where to get spa treatments! We played games up on their rooftop deck, enjoyed a beautiful breakfast in the courtyard and Moe & Dorothy were so nice and gracious that we found ourselves not wanting to leave! We left to walk over to "Baby Jesus' house" (ask Dorothy) and when we returned and were going to call for a taxi, Moe had his van all ready and said he'd be happy to drop us off! I'm telling ya--They were such sweethearts! They opened their home to us and made us feel more like family rather than guests! Nothing against Marina El cid--it's beautiful, but when my kids are asked about our Mazatlan highlights, they always tell people about Moe&Dorothy! :)
Go see them! We can't wait to go back and stay a while!
