The previous reviews of Casa de Leyendas (House of Legends) are not just legends; they are right on. I will not repeat what is in them nor what you can find on their excellent website. What I can say is that this magnificently decorated almost 9000 square foot house is much more than a bed and breakfast. It is a wonderful boutique hotel you shouldn't miss.

What makes it special are the owners, Sharon and Glenn, who are so great at sensing just what you need when you need it. They can arrange for a perfect stay for one or for an entire houseful such as a family celebration or business retreat. There are a variety of different indoor and outdoor spaces so that people can be alone or together as they wish. Although Sharon shared her formula for extra comfortable beds, I will guard her secret. Loved the delicious breakfast and free calls to the states and free Internet.

The Casa de Leyendas is an important part of the revitalization of the historic center of Mazatlan. Staying there you are in the center of it, close to the vibrant Plazuela Machado and a block from the sea. It is a great location in a wonderful place and an unforgettable experience.

We just returned home to Atlanta after a 5-night stay with Sharon & Glenn Sorrie. All the other reviews are correct--The Sorries treat you like family rather than as guests. From the moment you enter their remarkably restored home, you know this is a special place. Honor Bar, honor snacks, hot and cold breakfasts, top-floor area for sunning and watching the sunsets, ATM just around the corner, and a good, inexpensive place to eat next door--what else could you want? The Sorries will recommend places to eat (either in Plaza Machado area or on the beach), arrange tours and day trips, and provide all the guidance you need. This is Mexico and the downtown streets can be noisy on weekend nights, but it was never a serious problem for us. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Casa de Leyendas. This is a very beautifully decorated, airy and spacious accommodation. There are several areas in the Casa in which to sit and relax,and even a rooftop area where one can view the wonderful sunsets. The hosts, Sharon and Glenn Sorrie are very pleasant and helpful.Their staff are great as well. The breakfasts are both delicious and copious. We stayed at Casa de Leyendas for a week while studying Spanish nearby in the old Historic Center of Mazatlan. It was really a wonderful experience:
- very warm and helpful owners
- friendly and knowledgeable staff
- great location practically across the street from the ocean and a couple of blocks from the Plazuela Machado
- fabulous accommodations: comfortable bed and room, delicious breakfasts, roomy facilities and the ability to bring in food/drinks at any hour
- internet and phone at no extra price
- drinkable water even from the taps in the bathroom

We usually stay a big lower-cost, and almost never in b&bs, but I have to say this place was totally worth it!

I could really go on and on about what's wonderful. The only bad thing: its proximity to a restaurant that's pretty noisy into the evening. We simply closed the windows/shutters and turned on the air conditioner to sleep, other people used earplugs (I think Sharon and Glenn will supply you if needed.) If you're there at Carnaval, I imagine there might be even more noise. Of course, it's also a really nice and cheap restaurant - ceviche mmm mmm.
