Crown Paradise offerred a fantastic choice for our family. It wasn't a five star by any means, but you couldn't have asked for more attention to the needs of children.
Upon check-in...yes you have to register with the man at the pirate ship wheel...I thought it was some-one who was offering a time share but it was valid! Our room was basic, but had a view of the kids pool and was very close to the kids club! Family rooms that have the bunk beds have a view of the street that you enter in from, so not all that attractive. Hotel is close to the marina, which is handy for the pirate ship tours and snorkelling tours offerred through your vacation company.
Food....well I have good and bad stories about the food...La Palapa which is the buffet was the usual fare, however not a lot of bacon or sausage available for breakfast. Japanese restaurant was awesome, Italian tasted fine....however I got the worst case of food poisioning I have ever had from this restaurant....Could have been poorly washed lettuce or who knows?
My in-laws went to the French restaurant(age 8 and up only) and were not impressed with the food.
Rooms were clean and well maintained, bathrooms were large and great storage space inside bathroom.
Beach was good, clean and lots of area for kids to play and people to walk by without trampling them. Vendors....ugh....got annoying after a while, but they are trying to make a living as well. Juanita makes great bead necklaces though and can't beat her prices....
Cab ride into Puerto Vallart quite affordable....60 pesos or $5 US, bus is 6 pesos per person. We were there at Easter which is a huge holiday for the Mexican people so it was very busy in the city centre and at the church.
Pools were decent, there is a smaller quieter pool to the far right of the resort, with a shallow section for the kids and a deeper area for the adults. Easier to get a lounger and not so noisy with all the activities of the main pool.
Kid's club was the best part of the trip for the kids. You can check them in with the choice of 3 ribbon colors...red- kids cannot exit the kids club..yellow- they can go to kids pool or playground with an adult from the kids club(under supervision)....green- they can come and go as they please from the club, but need to be signed out at the end of the day. No-one can pick up your child without matching the number on your all-inclusive bracelet to the original papers you fill out the first time you go there to drop off your child. My kids were involved in one of the shows at Club Nitro which puts on family entertainment nightly....My daughter was Princess Jasmine and my son a pirate....these shows they put on were great, but the best one was the Saturday night for sure(okay I may be a little biased...lol) All in all it was a good holiday, may not go back due to the food poisioning and the vendors, but who knows if the price was right.
Weather in Puerto Vallarta is amazing and stays relativley the same with no precipitation which is great for not worrying about the rainy season. Watch the undertow in the ocean as it can surprise you sometimes. Be sure to keep an eye on the little ones when they go in the water, the waves can make the water seem shallower than it really is.
Whatever resort or vacation you pick to go on, make the best of it and it will usually turn out fine!
We asked for ground floor which was great for proximity to kids club, however better view of the oce...
