We spent a week at the Radisson Paraiso in June/July 2004. It is located near UNAM (Univ of Mex) and the 1984 Olympic Stadium/Olympic Village. Across the street is a very nice large shopping mall which you access via a foot bridge spanning the Perisur freeway. Their Sears dept store is not the same as in the U.S...it was upscale with great selections. The chain of restaurants, called Sanborn's, has one located there. A good place to eat, buy wonderful baked goods and purchase gifts. Remember, in Mexico smoking is allowed in restaurants. Our room, 9th floor, was well furnished. Marble bathroom was spacious. Would highly recommend the breakfast buffet; not free, but tasty and lots of choices. Although the hotel, mileage-wise doesn't seem far from everything, the millions of cars that travel their roads keep the freeways packed at most hours and make the trip into the city 1 1/2 hours. We were there at start of rainy season (some rain each day, but sunny too) so the smog was kept to a minimum. When using the airport, schedule your travel for late evening to avoid the crush. We were fortunate to be visiting locals who had cars to take us everywhere so we went to Teotihuacan to the pyramids and south to Taxco, the picturesque silver mining town built on a hillside, and would definitely go again. Make sure you take in the Saturday bazaar in Plaza San Jacinto, a taxi ride from the hotel.
