My wife and I stayed at the Learning Center for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms were super clean and nicely appointed. The people at the Learning Center were super nice, very knowledgable about Oaxaca and introduced us to some of the students who are studying there. English is well spoken and everyone is willing to help with your Spanish too. The owner, Gary Titus, a San Franciscan who has been in Oaxaca a number of years, went out of his way to make us feel welcomed. We also felt very good about the fact that by renting the room we were helping to support the good work being done with young Oaxacans.

My teenage son and I went to Oaxaca for spring break and had a great time at the Learning Center. We immediately made ourselves at home and everyone there was fun to talk to . We are still talking about the homemade yogurt, granola and tropical fruit salad we had each morning.
Recently, new friends that we met at the Learning Center sent us photos . They brought back great memories of swinging in the hammock or sitting on the patio amidst tropical plants and socializing with the other guests and staff.
It was close enough to the Zocalo (tourist center 7 blocks away) to walk once or twice a day, but far enough to be quiet at night.
This is a simple B& B with that supports the social mission of the Learning Center to help kids from Oaxaca state get an education. My son appreciated internet access in our room and talking with the young guys that work there. I appreciated contributing to their work and talking to Gary . I was able to do laundry, use their computer and Gary gave advice and help with travel plans.

I stayed at Gary's B & B and truly felt at home. The atmosphere is "tranquilo" (calm/relaxing), as they say in spanish, and all the staff are friendly and accommodating. The breakfast of fresh fruit, local natural yogurt and homemade granolais a yummy and healthy way to start the day. Gary is a wealth of knowledge concerning Oaxaca and is always willing to chat. The center itself is very interesting and it feels good to know that your dollars are going to helping kids and their tutors get the best education possible. There's no way you can stay at The Learning Center and not feel a level of personal attachment upon leaving. I highly recommend it as one of the most comfortable and clean places to stay in Oaxaca, with a major plus of helping out local youth.

The Bed and Breakfast at the Learning Center is a great find. I have rented the apartment twice, and several of my friends have stayed in the guest rooms downstairs. The place is well located in the Historic Center, the guest rooms are immaculate, and the atmosphere is friendly and secure. The rooms are smallish but newly renovated, each has a private bath, and the price is more than reasonable. I would recommend The Learning Center to single women travelers particularly, as you have privacy, comfort and safety in a friendly atmosphere.
Gary Titus is a lovely and experienced host, and his cook, Andreas, makes wonderful breakfasts for the guests. Try his homemade granola and homemade yogurt with tropical fruit.
Staying here is just a little different from the usual, a window into Oaxaca you would not get in a hotel. The best part is your travel dollars go right into supporting a local non-profit organization.
