The only bad thing I have to say is we should have stayed longer. My wife and I stayed 4 nights to celebrate our anniversary 4-27 to 5-1-08. We are middle-aged, middle-class bargain hunters. This was our first trip to Mexico and our first stay in an all-inclusive. We're afraid to stay anwhere else now because this place was so perfect for us. Anyone who has negative things to say about Dreams is probably not happy wherever they are. I want to share some tips and memories. Book your flight out of a major hub. It's cheaper and saves time. Bring something to drink on your flight into Cancun. We had to wait 1 1/2 hrs to get through customs and there are no soda machines. (don't worry, it's worth the wait....you'll see) We took a taxi to and from the resort. Cost about $26. The car was air conditioned, and it only took about 15 minutes. (don't forget to tip..$1 U.S = $10 Mexican) We booked thru travelocity taking the cheapest room and were glad we ddnt take the offer to pay for an upgrade. We stayed in the pyramid bldg with a view of the dolphins and the ocean from our balcony. (wait til you get to your room to decide if you want an upgrade. Then offer some cash to the bell boy to get you one. Ours made a call and said he could have us closer to the dolphins the next day, but my wife was happy where we were) Nice A/C, bathroom w/plenty hot water, stocked fridge, slippers/robes, and very soft bed. The drinks are awesome. Some top shelf' alcohol cost extra, so make sure you ask. I tipped a dollar each round, although I knew I didn't have to. I ordered flowers thru the concrge and they threw in comp fruits and champaigne and put a happy anniv. banner on our door. (cost $55) No reservations are required, but I asked for one at Oceana and got a table with an ocean view that we'll never forget. I had fun ordering foods I couldn't even pronounce, and loved it all. They have nice big beach towels. So don't bother packing any. They also have free rafts to use. Get up early to reserve your spot on the beach. The beach on the dolphin side has calmer water but the beach on the other side had less children. (for those of you who enjoy a mid-day alcohol induced nap). We always felt like we had privacy and never was crowded or had to wait for anything. My wife was like a kid swimming with the dolphins. She LOVED it. The theme nights are really fun too. Shopping tip: the further away from the resort...the cheaper. however, you have to put up with the heat, the crowds and very aggressive salesmen. We decided next time we will shop from the vendors that set up at the resort on certain nights and pay for the convenience. The entire staff was friendly and seemed sincere in their hospitality. We miss hearing "it would be my pleasure" I can't wait to go back next year...there's nothing like floating in calm chrystal clear water, staring at perfect blue skies and telling God how much you appreciate the life you've been given.
