My girlfriend and I were down here the week of April 27th - May 4th. Overall, we had a really fun time and met some other neat couples. I would say that the majority of people staying at the hotel were either couples or families. May not be the best hotel to stay at if you are looking to meet other singles. I really enjoy house music, and some techno, but they really did just play this type of music the ENTIRE time which became quite redundant. The Rose bar was dead the entire time we were there with the exception of one Friday where there was a little bit more of a crowd. However, if you wanted to go out at night, the downtown area and other clubs were not far off. We just became too tired from drinking in the sun all day to muster up the energy to venture outside of the hotel at night.
The pool areas are great, but you have to get out to reserve a non pay spot to sit otherwise you might find yourself wandering the pool all day. I think that we ended up getting Bali beds 5 out of the seven days we were there, which I would actually say is worth the 40 dollar price tag. You don't have to sign a check every time, you get a dedicated waiter that recognizes you and brings drinks to you where ever you end up (pool, bed, etc.) you have access to a full menu (otherwise you need to go to the restaurants and sit down to get the food) they give you fiji waters on ice and usually bring you fresh fruit as well. I think that we ended up tipping our waiter around 40 US a day which they seemed pretty happy with. Of the waiters that we had at the Adult pool, Enrique was BY FAR the most attentive and on top of his game. He reminds me of the butler in Mr. Deeds. He would just pop up behind you with drinks and food and then vanish. He was very "sneaky, sneaky". ;)
Just a side note on the checks that you have to sign. They say "NO CHARGE" at the top of the bill, but then they give you a US $ reference amount that is SO inflated it is crazy. Lunch, often times was listed around $145 US for two appetizers, two beers, and two entrees. I am not sure if this is a ploy to make the tip higher if you were to look at it as a percentage basis, but we usually left around $10 US for lunch and $10 for Dinner which they seemed relatively happy with. The only reason I bring this up is because we had a hard time figuring out what the appropriate amount to tip was. We had some conversations with other couples down there surrounding this issue and they seemed to have the same opinion(s).
The rooms were great, the elevators were efficient, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the grounds were very well kept. We were giving a sunset room on the third floor which is basically looking at this lagoon or lake. Never really did figure out what it was. We were kind of bummed about the view situation and had every intention of moving to a view room once one became available but after we unpacked it just seemed like too much of an effort and we ended up being just fine with our room. If I were to do it again, I think that I would have payed the extra money and gotten a suite or a room on the "Level" which was the 10th and 11th floors. The view from up there was amazing when compared to our third floor room.
Overall, we had a pretty fun experience, felt safe the entire time we were down there and would recommend the hotel. If you are looking at other hotels down there and have not booked yet, we have heard that the RIO Palace was another great option to consider and was a little bit closer to the downtown night life. Enjoy your trip!
Pay the extra money and do the Level Experience.

Thank you very much for posting such a complete review for other travelers to read. I would like to let you know that I will be sharing your commentaries with Enrique in regards to his service. I am also thrilled you enjoyed our bali bed service. I agree it truly enhances the experience to have staff dedicated entirely to your service for just a little extra money. As I have shared before also our commentaries in regards to tipping. we greatly appreciate that you choose to tip those who exceeded your expectations. When it comes to your input in regards to th atmosphere at Rose Bar I would like to share the hotel follows the yin and yang philosophy, hence a more laid back ambiance is held during the week to then live up to the high energy cores on the weekend. We truly hope to host you again in the near future! It will be great to have you back with us to live the experience.
