Stayed here for a week the end of March 2012. I use trip advisor all the time and feel compelled to give back and write more reviews. I would recommend this hotel for couples who are sick of all inclusives but keep in mind this is Mexico and everything is always a little less fast paced, very laid back, slow service and not perfect as US hotels tend to be. Pretty much on your own here. If you lived on this gorgeous island, you would be very chill too. However, we also pay a lot of money to get there, eat/drink/tip at the resort, pay for rooms and write reviews like this, so there is no excuse for poor service, ever!
Many times I would order food or ice, nothing would show up, no returned calls. That is really annoying and unacceptable. The rooms need fridges! Rooms are nice but a work in progress in my opinion, kind of loud (street noise, birds) as the rooms are not sealed up well. I would recommend the jr suite. Great location to downtown, restaurant we mostly avoided but seems ok. Drinks are kind of spendy but very strong and delicious. Some service was really good, some really bad. Overall they need to work on their consistency of service. The hotel manager was exceptional. Oh and the massage lady is amazing, my wife is still talking about it.
Loved diving off the dock. Great snorkeling on site. Nice pool and relaxing enviornment. It was very private, very few people around unlike all inclusives and the resort is super quiet. Clean resort. Fun to sit in hot tub at night. Yoga in the mornings. Very nice views. Wireless works only in the lobby. We mostly went downtown for meals and really enjoyed Kinta and Kondessa (modern mexican, very good!), Pescarderia San Carlos and as always both Casa Mission and La Mission. Not much of a beach at the resort, we went Chankanaab for true beach time but I actually enjoyed the little beach area they made and around the pool. Overall I would go again, wish I was there right now actually!
