We stayed at Iberostar Cozumel from May 24th-June 2nd 2012. We chose this resort for our wedding because we have visited there twice before, on a day trip from another Iberostar in Playa 9 years ago and for a week 2 years ago. This time we brought 40 family and friends with us to enjoy what we love about this place. The bungalos are one of the best parts of this resort, they really make you feel like you are on a secluded island "no shoes, no shirt, no problem" this is something that a high-rise hotel just cannot offer. The rooms are simple but nice the beds are very firm, which is perfect for us if not for you ask the front desk and they will bring you a memory foam pad. Each room has its own deck or balcony with chairs and hammock, nice to relax while waiting for your significant other. The paved pathways and gardens throughout are nothing but perfection and over the last 9 years this has certainly not changed, kudos to the groundsmen. The peacocks, parrots (especially Pepe), pink flamingos, lizards and of course the cats make this resort feel very rustic and natural. We still cannot figure out if those cats are the resorts pets, I have never once seen them jump on any of the dinner tables. The pool and pool bar is great, I have seen better at the other Iberostar's but this one is definitley sufficient. The beach is beautiful, the water is rocky however if you notice most Cozumel beaches are this way. You can easily access the water with water shoes or from the dock. The staff is excellent, from the servers to the housekeepers everyone is always making sure you are not wanting for nothing. The spa is top notch, many of the people from our group made reservations for the various massages they offer, sometimes more than once. The scuba diving is always phenomenal there and Dressel Divers, the resorts dive shop has always been great. We had 2 children with us 4 and 5 yrs old and our friends absolutely loved the kids club the resort offers. They also used the babysitting services for 2 nights and after a scheduling issue in the beginning everything worked out fine. The sitters are the resort staff which made us feel more comfortable. Kudos to Lizette she is amazing with the kids. The package includes tipping, however you cannot help yourself by giving a little extra, the staff make this resort nothing but rest and relaxation. The lobby is one of our favorite places to hang out at night especially with a big group like ours. The timber frame thatched roof and comfortable furniture make this space feel like your outdoors but not and the lobby bar makes the best drinks in the resort. You must buy a cuban cigar from Ruben. The wedding was magical! Miss Tania May the resorts wedding coordinator was everything a bride would hope for. The beach was beautifully decorated with tropical flowers and tiki torches and turquoise bows around all the chairs, the mariachi band was a great touch for a beach mexican wedding, the table with champagne for all the guests. I could go on and on but thats for a different review. The resorts club we only went to on the night of the wedding and they had great dance music. The steak restaurant is always great, we also picked this for our reception dinner. The american restaurant was good and I heard from our other guests that the mexican restaurant was great too. The only complaint we have is the reservations for the restaurants. Some of our guests were unable to reserve any nights because of the time there flight arrived and at 9am the next morning everything was already reserved. Luckily for the reception dinner they were able to still enjoy the steak house. We love the buffet, I am not a picky eater though and if there is something you dont like get something else, thats the benefit of a buffet. The pool and beach activities are plentiful and at least fun to watch if your not interested. The nightly entertainment was also enjoyed by our guests. Bring your bug spray and after bite, and if you are prepared you wont have any issues. Definitely check out Albertos down the beach, the staff and owner Mario are amazing we have been there in the past and also held our welcome party there. Excellent food and service! Also check out Coconuts, awesome place and absolutely beautiful on that side of the island. However be aware of the high price for taxi service! Reserving excursions are made easy in the lobby. Kudos to Delta Vacations, Wilson and Alan for helping me plan our private catamaran cruise and snorkeling! Thanks Iberostar for a wonderful experience, see you in 5 years for our anniversary :)
