We had problems the minute we arrived. We arrived on a Wed and as my husband was finishing up with the check in, I immediately went to the reservations table as I heard rumors that it was difficult to get a reservation at one of the speciality restaraunts. When I asked about getting a reservation for 7 people for Saturday the lady named Annie, gave me an attitude and told me that there were only a few spots left- 2 at 7:30 and 2 at 8:30. She then told me that I should have come earlier to book them.... remember I just got there and was asking for a reservation 4 days from the day I arrived! She then had another excuse that I was there at the wedding and the actually wedding was taking up my "quanteed" reservation. I wonder what the excuses were for those who weren't at the wedding. Since it was low season, they only had one speciality restaraunt open anyway. At one point they suggested we go to a restaurant off site, which we would have to get our own transportation and would actually pay for it as well. Another staff told me they have been asking management for more spaces but either they didn't respond to her or they refused. So they take our money to stay but are claiming they don't have enough space to fulfill the amount of people staying at the resort. The wedding we were attending had 93 people staying at the resort. The manager said he would work on it and get back to me. We eventually got our reservation for 7. We then went to our room which had a strong mildew smell and the beds were extrememly hard. The food was not good at all. I like a variety and don't want to eat pizza and hamburgers so I'm not complaining that the food didn't taste like home but rather it simply was not good. I've been going to Mexico for years and several times a year and have had much better food than this resort had to offer. Plus 90%of the food during lunch time was the exact same every day. On Saturday when we arrived for our 8:30 reservation for 7, 5 of our people opted not to go to the Steak House but we had other friends- 10 in all that had a reservation and we all wanted to sit together anyway. When they went to check in, the staff told them that their reservation was only for 5 and 2 (for a total of 7). We told staff that we have 5 extra spots to give to our other friends to bring the total of 12. So even though they lost the initial reservation for 12 we still had enough left over to make it. They apparently cannot do math at this resort because they didn't understand that we still had 12 spots remaining even if they didn't honor the initial reservation. After waiting 30 minutes for them to dispute this and call a manager, we went ahead and sitted ourselves. They eventually agreed to rearrange the tables to let all 12 of us sit together but then they only made seating for 11. They then said they would only serve 11! They literally said one of us would not be eating!!! The restarurant was only a third full and they were refusing to serve one of us...not sure why?? After much yelling they finally served all 12 of us. There is something very wrong when you go to an all inclusive and they refuse to feed everyone in your party! They also did not serve us drinks the entire time, only water. We actually had to get up and get our own drinks. We had a great time only because of the friends and family coming together to celebrate a beautiful wedding. I would not recommend this place to others who expect decent service.
