“Beautiful place, staff great, food not good”

Melia Cozumel

My husband and I stayed at the Melia for seven days in May 2008. The hotel itself was nice, not a very big resort, but the view was beautiful! The resort was clean, and the staff was very pleasant and accomodating! I will say that we would not stay at this resort again due to the bad food. Even though all threee meals were a buffet there wasn't much variety and the food itself was either very bland or just not good. Breakfast was the best meal of the three with more variety. The snack bar that they had each day was outdoors so you couldn't be too sure about how long the food had been there and it was over 90 degrees everyday. Four other relatives stayed at the same resort with us and had the same complaints. My other complaint was the smell of the hotel room which was very musty! Nothing ever dryed even with the air conditioning on full blast. Could have used a yankee candle!!

“Melia was Great Fun - Cozumel is beautiful!”

Melia Cozumel

We had a great time at the Melia and in Cozumel. The Resort was very clean, grounds looked great, never saw a day with Seaweed on the beach, I am convinced people who did - were probably there in the winter months which is very common for storms to come through.

The food was good, not great, but very good and a good wide variety on the selection. I enjoyed Japanese cuisine night - they had great Sushi! Delicious. I recommend getting Margaritas, Pina Coladas and Beer to drink - the wine was not very good which is their House Wine.

Snorkeling from the beach next store is unbelievable and saw several different types of fish, baracudas, and lobsters. This was better then taking the Catamaran trip which is mainly a party cruise, the site was not great for snorkeling.

The Lobster-Steak Pirate Dinner Cruise was awesome! Enjoyed the food and the entertainment - highly recommend.

Besides that enjoy the island, rent a car and go explore, you definitely feel like your on vacation.

Great time at the Melia - Highly Recommend this hotel for families and singles..

“Great Time at Melia and Cozumel”

Melia Cozumel

20 May 2008

My wife and 4 year old son just got back from Cozumel and the Melia on Saturday, 5/17. We had a great time. We were concerned about some of the reviews that we had read, but were pleased with the overall experience. I have been on many vacations, including cruises, which are still my favorite, but we felt the Melia was well taken care of and really had a great trip. The staff is friendly, even the time share person we spoke to while enjoying a drink in the lobby. She tried to pitch us, but we told her we just would not be interested and did not want to spend the time it took to just say no. She understood, and then took the time to bring us a map of the island and tell us relevant information as we were renting a car the next day to see the sights. I recommend renting a car for 1 day, you can do that right in the lobby.

The reservations restaurant was the biggest disappointment of the entire stay. Don't even bother bringing the attire needed to eat there. The atmosphere was nice in there, but the food was poor. The food in the main dining area was better then the reservations restaraunt. Now on the food, no, it is not gourmet, but I found something at each meal that was good and enjoyable. Especially breakfast, that was very good every day.

Take the Pirate Dinner Cruise. That was a blast and the Steak and Lobster was really good.

Hope this information is helpful, enjoy your trip to the Melia and Cozumel, we sure did.

We stayed at the Melia from 4/29 to 5/3/08. Had a wonderful time.
The people were very friendly & service was great. They came around in the afternoon asking if you needed anything at all! We tipped the maid a couple bucks each day, and had the fridge full of bottled water. The food was different, but we really enjoyed the buffet, especailly the breakfast, the omelets were great!! Lots of fresh fruit.
The room was very nice, with a beautiful ocean view & balcony.
I guess the only complaint we would have would be having to go downstairs to the lobby or bar to get ice, but what the heck, all we had was time. The bathrooms were large, & very nice over sized towels
We would definitely stay again!!!!
