How many great reviews do you have to read before you just book it? Perhaps this one will help you decide. This charming 3 room hotel is spotless clean with all you need (satelite tv, fridge, walk in shower, cold ac, internet connection) The room itself has a very upscale feel mixed with a Mexican flair. We enjoyed the pool and big screen TV in the courtyard. Great place to relax and drink a beer!! Most of all though, the owner Dan is just the best host, trip advisor, island info guy anyone could hope for! Dan assisted us in a car rental, gave us great local places to eat at and just plain old made us feel at home! All we can say is go and check it out you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to go back!!

“We Loved It!”

We decided to take the ferry in the evening to Cozumel, stay the night and rent a car to go around the island for the day. We chose to stay at Casita De Maya because of the great reviews and it was a great choice. Upon arriving we were greeted by Pile the dog, kitty the cat and Tracy, our host. We mentioned renting a car and he immediately ran next store to the car rental agency so we could rent our car before they closed at 7pm. We went out to dinner and shopping in town and returned to the Casita for a late evening swim. We had the entire Casita to ourselves. It was so quiet and romantic with the moon shining over the pool. We loved the cool, refreshing pool which was right outside our room. In the morning we awoke to a pot of coffee and fresh baked goods. It was hard for us to leave for we were so content and relaxed and it felt like home. The room was very clean and decorated with such care and good taste to include lots of beautiful candles, local pottery, a desk, dresser, fridge and tv. Our room felt more like a personnally owned studio than a hotel room. We would highly recommend this hotel.

June 3 - June 10, 2007
A Trip Advisor Member - Chattanooga, TN

My husband and I stayed at Casita de Maya June 3 - 10, 2007. We planned the trip to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and chose this hotel based on the many positive reviews posted on "tripadvisor.com." Initially we were very skeptical and more than a little nervous about our decision. As we made our way from the airport to the hotel, Dan greeted us and escorted us to our room.

As soon as we entered the front gate, we knew we had made the right decision! Our room was tastefully decorated, the air-conditioning unit worked perfectly (very, very important), the bed was wonderful and the refrigerator was stocked with free bottled water. In the mornings, coffee was available, free of charge, outside at the bar area where we usually had our breakfast. The housekeeper, Jolie, cleaned our room every day and even brought in fresh cut flowers. We enjoyed meeting a couple of Dan's friends, Tracy and Sandy, who are very knowledgeable about the area. Dan introduced us to the resident "critters" (Herman, Trixie and Kitty) whom we enjoyed while we were there.

Most importantly though, with Dan's help, we were able to do what we wanted, when we wanted, the way we wanted! With his assistance, we rented a car and drove around the island, stopping and enjoying a beautiful beach club and other attractions along the way. Another day we took a ferry to Playa del Carmen where we spent a few hours exploring the beach area. Since downtown Cozumel is only about a $2.00 taxi ride away, we went there several times to shop and usually stopped in at one of the grocery stores for wonderful breads, muffins, cream cheese and yogurts. Early in the week, at our request, Dan walked with us to a fresh fruit/ice-cream stand where we bought fruit bowls for our breakfasts. We returned there almost every day for more fruit and, of course, we always had ice-cream while we were there (usually coconut and/or chocolate). After Dan assured us the area was safe, we walked wherever we wanted and had no problems. We enjoyed fabulous seafood, nachos, tacos and other delicious dishes at restaurants Dan recommended, some within walking distance of the hotel.

Dan is a very gracious host and, if you will tell him what you want, he will help you make it happen. Incredibly, there was no noise from the airport and it was great to have Dan escort us back across the grounds when it was time to leave. We had a fantastic time at Casita de Maya and definitely recommend this unique little hotel to anyone planning to visit Cozumel...we plan to go again soon.

Stayed here April 21-28th. Booked all the rooms, which are three. Having only friends and family was a extra bonus, made it like home. As others have wrote, Dan goes above and beyond. We couldn't have been happier with the service and accomodations. The kids loved the pool and Kitty and Herman. I loved the recently added Satellite TV for any championship games you might want to watch. The only complaint we have, is we couldn't stay longer. Dan, we hope we see you again, and thanks for the great time. Tell Jolie and Tracey hello, hope to see you all again soon.

Having been to Cozumel a few years back, we kind of knew what we were looking for and that wasn't one of the large Hotels / AI's. Although they are great, they just aren't really our style of traveling. After much deliberation in finding a place, we decided to stay for a week at Casita De Maya and it was absolutely wonderful.

As other people have mentioned on this site, Dan is a great host and is always there for you when you need him. Not only did he give us great recommendation about restaurants and local festivals to check out, but he also hooked us up with a great deal on a rental car. Like many other travelers, we were a bit weary of renting a car in Mexico, but Dan helped make it a smooth transaction.

If you are looking for a first class room and service, while at the same time saving some money at a great price, I would highly recommend staying with Dan at Casita de Maya...you will definitely be impressed!

Thanks again Dan!!
