I stayed at the Sabor at Wyndham for a week in May 2008. We had a room with 2 queen beds & a cot, which worked out well for 3 women. The service at the hotel was good, the resturants were good, a little spicy with the sauce but getting it on the side was okay. it was all inclusive so definitely worth the price if you drink alcohol. the pool was clean & nice. The rooms with the pool entrance right outside the patio would have been icing on the cake.

My boyfriend and I just recently returned from our 8 night stay at Sabor of the Wyndham Resort and Spa and all I can say is WOW. It was our first vacation together and my first international trip and I was blown away by my experience there. What seemed like the start of a horrible trip was quickly quelled within 20 minutes of being at the resort. Our concierge Enrique remedied not only our lost luggage situation but also was able to have a pharmacy provide me with prescription eye drops (without the prescription) for a burst corneal ulcer I had, comped a couples hydro massage and booked us an island tour with one of the local taxi drivers. The rooms are beautifully tropical with hammocks on every balcony and the 5 pools connected at each building was such a gorgeous sight. The Mosaique restaurant on the Sabor side was amazingly delicious with the most accommodating and friendly wait staff and the best breakfast my boyfriend has ever had. With a pool side bar and a lounge bar all within feet of each other, we had no reason to ever leave our section. However, if you do wish to venture out the beach is only a short 5 minute walk through the other side of the hotel and there are also 3 other restaurants and a snack bar you can access on the other side of the hotel along the beach side which all (except the buffet) were fabulous. The spa is also to die for and I highly recommend at least pampering yourself a little bit there. If you also wish to experience some of the extraordinary adventures Cozumel has to offer, book through the hotel as they are so informative, safe, and the options are endless. I can not say enough good things about our amazing concierge and the service we were given on the Sabor side. His sincerity and knowledge of the island made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The difference between the service on the Sabor side and the Resort family side is fiercely apparent and I am so happy we chose Sabor. I would without a doubt stay there again and will recommend it to everyone I can! My boyfriend and I are even considering getting married there! Thank you Sabor, Enrique and Ricardo for giving us such a WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL vacation!!!!!

My husband and I just got back from Cozumel (stayed at the Sabor 24 May thru 31 May 2008). We didn't have a pool terrace room, but we were rarely at the pool anyway. Check in took a little while due to a mix up with our reservations, but we were given our wrist bands and free roam until our room was ready (about an hour later). We tried all of the restaurants and loved all of them. My husband was VERY impressed with the buffet and wanted to eat there every night rather that wait for our reservation time at the other restaurants. We didn't see a problem with the service anywhere. The only slow time happened if the waiters had to walk to the bar to get mixed drinks.

Most of our time was spent at beach sitting or snorkeling. The area was rocky and full of broken shells which reminded me of various east coast (USA) beaches. The water was full of fish and we spent at least 2 afternoons snorkeling near the shore. W.E.T Entertainment (the guy that ran the free non-motorize entertainment) had diving, fishing, and snorkeling tours at extra cost. The snorkeling tour was in a glass bottom boat and we saw tons of neat things.

Over all our trip was fantastic and we did exactly what we set out to do--- nothing!! :-)

“4 Star Peoperty - 1 Star Service”

My wife and I have now visited 7 all-inclusive resorts since getting married. In all our travels, we have never experienced such a horrible vacation as we did here.

We are easy-going, friendly, and all we expect is friendly, timely service with good food and drinks and some organized activities.

We went there because the place was highly recommended by RCI, because it is “all-inclusive” and has a 5 out of 5 rating on the RCI website. We went there for the 2nd of a 2-week vacation. Our first week was spent at another all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico.

After many hours of travel we arrived at the Wyndham lobby from where guests go to reach the Sabor property that is also owned by Wyndham. No one but a bellboy was there where we arrived and he had no idea what we meant by Sabor. He told us to go wait in line so we could check in with all other guests at the main counter (contrary to the literature that promoted a private check-in). We waited 20 minutes only to end up speaking with someone who told us where to go to check in as Sabor guests.

We trekked through the property following the path we were given, across the grounds were sewage is treated and which smell absolutely horrible. We reached the small office where the private check-in took place, along with many other guests. There was only 1 person doing the work behind the desk. No refresher drink, fresh towel, hello, or welcome was offered. It was hot and we had to wait again.

We finally sat at the desk, only to be told that our traveller’s cheques are not accepted at this desk, only cash or credit card. I suppose it’s hard to fathom Sabor might have guests who travel internationally, far from home, and who might not feel comfortable carrying thousands of dollars in cash on their person. We were directed to return to the first counter, back across the sewage-smelling grounds, where our traveller’s cheques would be accepted. We did, and waited in line again before paying for our stay.

Back to the “private check-in” at Sabor, across the sewage smell, to go get our luggage and room keys. Since we arrived before check-in time, we were invited to go sit at the restaurant next to office (Mystique) and grab a drink and some food while we wait. We did and wait, and wait and wait some more. We experienced the taste of what was to come for the bulk of the rest of the week: exceptionally slow, unfriendly, unwelcoming service! We would have gotten up and gone to the bar - some 50 feet from where we sat - to get our own drinks but the bartender wasn’t even around.

After a painful wait to get a drink and something to eat, we hauled our own 4 luggage bags to our room and checked ourselves in. It wasn’t surprising at this point to find nothing in the fridge!

We were there to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, but it seemed impossible to convince anyone at Sabor that the day meant anything special to us or to motivate them to consider doing a little something special at any one of our sit-down dinners on the property. When it came down to it, we showed up at one of the restaurants and for a second night in a row found that no one had a clue that we were there to celebrate anything special. We bit the bullet, grinded our teeth, and figured we would ask for champagne to ease the pain. Sorry, we were told, we’re out of champagne. Just like they were out of butter for toast, or only had kids cereals at Mystique (adults only?).

Considering it is an adult only resort, it became clear to the majority of guests we spoke with that the only activities that happen on the property do so on the Wyndham property where there a lots of kids - things don't happen at Sabor unless the guests get together and make them happen.

Having to trek through the stench of sewage to get to the Wyndham lobby and back to Sabor during an entire week’s stay at Sabor, enduring painfully slow and unfriendly service as well as a near-complete lack of daily or nightly activities (unless willing to go to the Wyndham property and enjoy things with families and kids, which was not what we sought or paid for), having the absolutely worst wedding anniversary dinner experience, and having to complain up to the general manager to have any concern noted made this stay one of the worst.

It’s a real shame because the property is nice, the room was nice, and we and other guests were eager to enjoy our stay. The service however will make it near impossible for me to ever want to go back or recommend it to anyone.

On a closing note, after numerous complaints by us and other guests, we started to notice some changes immediately but they have a lot of work to do.

“Great Time!!! Sabor is a must stay”

Sabor at the Wyndham Resort Cozumel

30 May 2008

My husband and I stayed at Sabor May 23 thru May 28, 2008. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. I had read the reviews before we went down and didn't know what to expect. We stayed in a pool terrace room - worth it. We were able to walk out of our room right into the pool. Nice for those late night dips! Totally worth the extra money to stay in Sabor. I loved having NO KIDS around.

I agree the service was pretty slow at Mosique for Breakfast the first day, but after that it picked up. We called it island time. I think we get accostomed to everything happening quickly - you are on vacation!! RELAX!! It will be ready in a Mexican minute.

The food at Mosique was my favorite. Very flavorful Asian fusion dishes as they would describe it. Vista Del Mar was also a treat - down by the water. We ate there our last night and it was well worth it. You have to remember you are in a different country and you aren't going to get food exactly prepared like you do in the US.

Our recommendations while you are at Sabor:
Play a game of volleyball in the pool with the other guests
Rent a jeep and drive around the island. You MUST stop at Coconuts - quite a place
Take a towel and hang out at the beach on the other side of the island. We were there for 4 hours and didn't see a soul! It was PERFECT!!
Take a late night seista in the hammock with your honey
Pack a swimsuit in your carry on. We had to wait to get in our room. But no worries, we went and changed and within 20 minutes were in the pool, with a drink, soaking up the sun.
Bring plenty of sunscreen - you are going to need it
RELAX and ENJOY!!

We will definetly be back soon.
