We recently returned from Isla and our stay at Bucaneros. We originally planned on splitting our stay between two hotels. We reserved one night at Bucaneros, two nights at the other hotel and then the last four nights at Bucaneros.
As other reviews state, the rooms are clean and in a good location. However, the rooms were very noisy due to the location on the pedestrian street. We stayed in Rooms 100 and 202 and both had a strong odor of bleach. Once the bleach odor died down, it was very musty smelling, especially the bathrooms. There was mold and mildew in the showers. We checked out two days early because of the noise and odor. When we checked out, the woman asked us how our stay was and we told her that the rooms smelled. She just smiled and didn't say anything, but perhaps she did not understand English.
At check-in the first time, the woman who helped us seemed more interested in watching a girl play on the computer than checking us in. The second time, the man who checked us in was very helpful.
Both rooms had a nice balcony overlooking the street with a table and chairs. In Room 100, there were two double beds, but you had to climb into a loft to get to the second bed. The loft ceiling was low so you had to walk on your knees to get to the bed.
They have free water dispensers outside the rooms, which was very convenient.
