On our great Odessey around Mexico, staying in Merida's Casa San Juan, was a delightfull time. Its biggest value are the welcoming owner and stuff, what made us feel like being at good friends' place. Even having lived in Dallas, my family had never visited Mexico. Eventually we decided to explore a part of Mexico rich in Mayan culture and archeology. At the same time we wanted to find a comfortable and affordable accommodation that would have a good location and enable us to explore and have a really good time.
We found all of this in Merida, Yucatan, a bustling city with wonderful sights and adventures. More importantly Merida has varied accommodations and we found the perfect place, Casa San Juan Bed & Breakfast.
Quite beautiful inside, clean with a wonderful staff that helped us with our basic Spanish needs. The breakfast part of the accommodation was really quite nice, sweet rolls, homemade marmalades, fresh coffe and juice, and fresh fruits, plus an atmosphere so friendly and cordial, we felt a part of the family. Since the breakfast is included with the room, Casa San Juan became the perfect base for our stay in the Yucatan. Great location, completely affordable, top notch.

Casa San Juan is a lovely and affordable retreat in an otherwise noisy and hot city. Don't get me wrong - I love Merida more and more with each visit, but I was unprepared for it on my first trip there. It took me a few days to warm to the city, but it took me only a few minutes at Casa San Juan to realize that I had found the perfect place to cool down, kick back and relax. Casa San Juan is a comfortably-restored colonial home with interior courtyard gardens - a perfect place for relaxing, reading, or getting to know other travelers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and air-conditioned, though the colonial architecture allows for adequate ventilation. Often, even during my afternoon breaks, I found myself just opening the windows to let in the breezes. The staff is warm and willing to help travelers become familiar with Merida or find restaurants or bus routes to the Mayan ruins. Casa San Juan serves a basic continental breakfast of rolls, tea and coffee, which is a perfect not-to-heavy morning meal. With most rooms going for less than $50, the Casa San Juan is one of the most affordable boutique hotels in Merida. I price-checked some of the other hotels in the area and found that Casa San Juan was the best deal.

My wife and I were very impressed with this beautiful bed & breakfast. The ambience was welcoming and attractive, with a beautiful central courtyard and large, comfortable bedrooms. The service was friendly and helpful, and the location was great. And all this at a very reasonable cost. We highly recommend it!
