We booked Captain Quickie based on all of the positive reviews here on TA and he did not disappoint! Amy (his wife) was always very polite and fast to respond via email to our requests (even a peanut butter sandwich for my son!) We booked the catamaran and snorkling tour and the zipline tour. Javier and Izzy came and picked us up at the Catalonia Riviera Maya in a nice airconditioned van and then we went and picked up another family with 2 boys at the Barcelo and we were off! They took us to this cool "water park" where the fresh water and salt water mixed and guided us through a mazelike experience with Javier and Izzy always looking out for all three boys safety. Then we went to Akumal beach and snorkled with the sea turtles--very cool! They had some snacks and cold drinks for us in the van on the way to our next stop. Then on to a crystal clear and cool freshwater cenote where my son decided to go ahead and jump off the high platform along with the other 2 boys--a first for our six year old (and so was the snorkeling--he felt that comfortable with our guides!) The whole time Javier and Izzy were taliking to us about the area, the Mexican and Mayan culture and pretty much any and everything about the Yucatan. We then went to Tulum beach (gorgeous white powder sand and palm trees) where we met up with the rest of the group who had actually gone on a tour at Tulum ruins and got onto the catamaran via a little skiff (the seas were a bit rough and it would have been difficult to get onto the catamaran I think if you had any mobility issues, but it was fine for all who were there.) We met the rest of the crew and with a fresh margarita and yummy chips, home made guacamole and sandwiches in hand we set sail back for Puerto Aventuras. My husband caught half a fish--something chomped it as he was reeling it in--pretty funny. I had too many margaritas and watch out for the Sergio's Surprise drink ;)! Javier and Izzy were great with the kids on board and made sure they were always entertained and safe. We had a crazy storm with this wondrous warm rain for about 1/3 of the trip back and the crew provided us with rain gear if we wanted it--it was actually really spectacular and made the trip very memorable. My son loved laying out on the net getting thrashed by the rain and waves! We got off at the marina and they gave us a lift back to our hotel. Then a few days later Captain Q and Javier picked us up and took us to the zipline park where we ziplined, rock climbed (I didn't rock climb--it didn't agree with my knee,) and then rapelled (my son didn't want to rapel--it scared him a bit.) The ziplines were nice because they weren't very high off the ground--it seemed safer to me than some other super high ones we had been on in the past. Javier stuck to my son like glue and made sure that he was secure the entire time. We then went in 2 more cenotes that were on the property one was in an underground cavern and had stalagtites and stalagmites-very cool. My son decided not to snorkle in this one because he suspected that there might be a sea monster in it, so Javier very patiently waited with him and showed him some other neat things (and whacked his head on a stalactite--poor Javier!) while we went with the guide for our tour (15minutes.) This cavern/cenote was probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. Then we had this wonderful pulled pork taco lunch and lemonade and Capt Q came and got us. Oh, we kept seeing all of these beautiful blue butterflies around and Javier told us a really neat story about them. Our tours were both wonderful and I can definitely recommend Captain Quickie and his team for you to have an amazing time! One more thing-we had walked over to the Puerto Aventuras Marina from our hotel in between these two tours midweek, to see the dolphins and stuff and my son wasn't feeling great and was very tired--almost too tired to walk back. My husband had hurt his neck and so couldn't really carry him on his shoulders as he normally would. And to our good fortune who do we see but Izzy being driven by Quickie's wife Amy in a golf cart at the marina--and they graciously offered to return us to our hotel--as any friend would. And that's just what we felt like the entire time we were with any of them...that we were visiting friends and they were taking us all around the area. Thanks, guys! xoxoxo! Susannah
