“Amazing Holiday we'll go again and again”

Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun

We stayed at the Secrets Capri from 26 May and it was an amazing holiday. We'll be going back next year! I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to relax in total luxury, it's also child free which makes it even more relaxing as its quiet, no toys in the pool and you can float in the pool without being splashed.

It is a real couples resort and loads of hunnymooners. There were also 3 weddings when we were there which looked fantastic.

(For people who have made complaints about the hotel I don't know why as everything was perfect we couldn't think of any improvements).

Some more info for those who like the details:
The food was fantastic we ate at all the restaurants but loved the Himitsui the most, especially when the Himitsui chef cooks at your table. The al a carte menu is also fantastic. The Riviera buffet restaurant was perfect for breakfast they served everything you could possibly want, the egg station was fab for those who like eggs. We also ate lunch their a few times. The Oceana's salmon and surf and turf main meals were great as was their chocolate pudding. The Seaside Grill was great for lunch and dinner and your never stuck for choice, the chicken kebab at lunch is really good.

We drank mainly at the pool bar in the evenings as the bar man was so nice and made us a range of cocktails to try. A band plays once a week and they were very good, we didn't really watch any of the shows so cannot comment on them.

The pool is great, always clean towels and lots of sun loungers. The waiter service between 10 & 5 means you don't even need to go to the bar! The entertainment team are there all day and night but are not at all pushy and just leave you to join in if you want.

We had a junior suite with a tropical view on the ground floor which was lovely, four poster bed, tv, sitting area, mini bar, which is topped up daily with what ever you want The housekeeping service was great they come round twice a day and turn down your bed in the evening which is a lovely touch.

TIPS = your price includes tips for the staff and they do get money each month from the hotel which is from the tips you pay up front however we still left tips as they staff we so attentive and friendly. They also earn very little $4 per day (£2) so the tips you give are much appreciated.

We had our wedding at Secrets in April 2008. Thank you so much to the folks on tripadvisor that take time to write reviews - we chose this destination based on the feedback on this site and we were not disappointed.

The resort is beautiful. I liked the fact that it's a relatively small resort . I felt there was more attention paid to me. Also, the adults only policy is a definite plus.

The room did not disappoint. We booked an oceanfront room and to hear the sound of the ocean as you fall asleep - heaven.

The wedding coordinator, Alejandra, made every effort for us to have the wedding of our dreams. Anything we asked for she was willing to accommodate. Our guests couldn't afford to stay at Secrets but right next door there is a resort that they stayed at and they were happy. We were able to hang out on the beach together which was nice. We had about 30 guests in all and had a beautiful ceremony on the beach and reception at the pool. I was nervous about having our wedding reception at one side of the pool while Mexican night took place at the other end, but it didn't bother us at all. The area is huge so that party didn't damper our party at all.

I can't say enough good things about the wedding - we got top notch pictures and a beautiful video. The choice of food options for the cocktail reception and dinner - amazing, and great bar. We were so happy to share our time with our family and friends in such a beautiful location.

Our last night we spent in the honeymoon suite which is bigger than our New York City apartment. Gorgeous!

Restaurants are good enough. I'm from New York, so picky about food, but I don't think I had a dish that disappointed me. I was a big fan of the outdoor restaurant on the beach (loved the Caribbean Shooters -and the fish tacos - slurp). Also, I'm a big eater, so sometimes I tried a few dishes at the restaurant.

It would have been perfect if we were a little closer to the city of Playa - you have to take a ten minute cab ride in and out of the city - and the city is pretty fun.

I don't get folks who complain about the beach - it probably depends on the time of year, but when we went the water was nice, warm, the sand clean. They work hard to keep the beach clean - if you walk further down to the other resorts, it gets a little icky with all the seaweed.

If you're thinking about coming here - go - have your wedding here - such a great place and special people. I want to go back!!

What an oustanding honeymoon experience - everything we could have dreamed of and more! We were greated with champagne upon arrival and the service just kept getting better. Our ocean view delux room was huge and perfect. Right in the center of the resort with a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool! The whole week was incredibly relaxing as we were pampered the entire time. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian resaturant followed by the seafood restaurant - what a view! The Japanese restaurant was not the greatest, but we are spoiled with amazing sushi back at home that we compare everything to. We would suggest the all day tour to Chichen Itza tour (can be booked through the resort) that includes the trip to the authentic Mexican restaurant and the cenote. It makes for a very long day, great for history lovers and people who love the rush of jumping off a cliff into a centote! The Aqua World jet ski tour was also fun. It includes about a 45 min jet ski both ways through the water jungle to a place for snorkeling - you can book the trip at the information area by the pool at Secrets. We went to Playa del Carmen for a few hours of shopping but were perfectly content just relaxing at the gorgeous resort. Overall it was THE perfect honeymoon experience and we hope to be able to make it back for one of our anniversaries some day.

If you are thinking of having your wedding at this hotel DO IT!

We were at the Secrets Capri from May 17th to May 25th inclusively. I had researched a lot of hotels in the area and when I saw pictures of the candlelight dinner on the beach for a wedding dinner - I was sold.

People have commented on the hotel so I won't repeat myself - its a perfect hotel and if you like to be taken care of this is the place for you! They love taking care of people there and it is their priority and it shows. Now for those who want a wedding there.

We wanted an intimate wedding - there was only 4 of us - it was our second wedding for both of us. We made all our arrangements via email prior to departure with Alejandra the wedding coordinator - she can tell you everything you need to know - requirements etc.

They offer packaged weddings at a decent price but if you book an oceanfront junior suite you get most of the wedding for free. All we paid extra was the photographer, blood tests and the beach dinner. My flowers and the grooms were included as was the judge - champagne cake flowers for decorations etc, wedding coordinator, clothes being pressed, free room for the g
room the night before, special turn down service, breakfast in bed the next day etc.

I went to the spa the afternoon before the wedding and had a body wrap to relax and had my hair done - they did an amazing job - I was more than satisfied.

Alejandra met us in the room for us to get ready for the photographer to make sure I had all that I needed and made sure that my husband to be and brother made it to the alter on time. She also ensure that the photographer was there on time. Gerardo was his name and he was great - our pictures are amazing!! Everything went off like clockwork.

The wedding itself was on the beach under a pergola - we brought our music - they provide a sound system for it - it was great the juge was so very nice and made the ceremony so personal.

Our wedding dinner was not included - it is by candlelight under a pergola also on the beach all draped in white with flowers - away for the other guests - it is pricy ($500) for 4 but if you figure that it is a 5 course meal (including steak and lobtster as the main course) with two waiters tending to your every need - champagne flowing - it was well worth it - after all - how much do you think this type of meal and service would cost at home at a restaurant - since it was our wedding we decided to do it and did not regret it at all - highly recommended.

The next day was nice - breakfast in bed - best omelet we have every had and it seems as though they had told everyone that we were just married it seemed everywhere we turned people were congratulating us.

The hotel is very small only 235 rooms but it is very nice as they make you feel at home and treat you like you are one of the family - there is staff everywhere - if you slow down too much someone will come and ask you if you need help - truly amazing.

So if you are thinking of getting married here - I highly recommend it and don't hesitate to write if you need more details.

We stayed at Secrets the last week in May. Best advice is throw away your watch. This resort is very relaxing. Our favorite was the Taco and Cerviche Bar by the beach. Try the granny smith cerviche - wish I could find it here. Although several reviews say to get rooms above the first floor, we got a first floor opening up to the pool. We loved it. We walked out our sliding door to the pool/beach/bar etc. The convienence was great. Definately get in the South wing so you don't have the afternoon sun. At the beach bar we met Jose - best bartender! You have to try his pina colada with Bacadri Anjeo - double shot.
Read other reviews about seaweed on the beach, but it is a function of the tide. Only 1 day did we have any issues. Don't let it stop you from going in the ocean. The bottom was sand and wonderful. Try the hobiecat for free. Great fun. We didn't have any problems with noise or pool/beach chairs. The resort is great about having plenty of towels available for use. We were impressed with the security. Each time you leave the hotel they write down your room number and transport drivers name and vehicle number, With the guarded gate there is no need for bracelets (another plus). We too liked the buffet breakfast (try the crepes). At the pool the only shade in the water is under the bridge. There is a need for more umbrellas at the pool; however, we always found shade on the beach. The staff was great about helping with anything you need. We enjoyed our stay.
