Far from the crowds, Esencia was a little piece of paradise on the Rivieran Maya. The hotel is intimate and beautiful, nestled in a lush estate. The staff are exceptionally attentive and professional. I highly recommend this place to those looking for serenity and peace- you will not be disappointed.

We have just returned from a week stay at the Esencia hotel. This was our second visit to this hotel. We travel all around the world when on vacation and this is the only place we have gone back to visit. Perfect setting for relaxation and to recharge your soul with positive energy. This hotel is located in one of the most magical areas of the Riviera Maya where you may perceive the great energy that flows in the area.
The rooms are very peaceful and comfortable. In the bathrooms the showers are wonderful with wood floor and two different showerheads, one of them a rain shower. The hotel provides ipods in the rooms with very beautiful music. We never left the hotel during our stay.
I love yoga and they a great yoga teacher named Hania who teaches from Monday - Friday at 9am. Saturdays and Sundays they provide Tai-Chi classes with a very good teacher. To complete your relaxation you may go to one of the best spas I have visited around the world. This spa is like a magical place where different massages and treatments are provided. Try a reiki with Gerardo or a facial with Azucena and you will notice that they are masters in their field.
The food is excellent and you may ask the chef to prepare something special during your stay. All waiters go an extra mile to help you and will personalize your visit by calling you by your name the next day.
Well, I highly recommend this place if you want to feel special and enrich your soul. We just came back and we'll be back next year.

Stayed here in May and had a very nice time.
Its a very quiet hotel with only a few rooms - so you have plenty of peace. Perfect for honey mooners and those looking for total relaxation - but don't expect too much of a buzz in the evenings. You can head into Playa del Carmen for that though.

Staff are very friendly and the food is good. There is a very nice beach with little cabanas for lounging in, although we spent most of our time by the 2 pools.

Our room was large and clean, with plunge pool for cooling off... although by late afternoon it got so warmed by the sun that it was more like a hot bath!

Esencia is truly a gem. From the moment you arrive you are treated with exceptional service. You are taken on a private tour of the grounds via a golf cart. The grounds are perfectly manicured with palm trees, banana trees, cactus and numerous tropical trees which makes you feel like you are in the jungle.
The beach is private and the staff at the beach attends to all of you needs. We were provided cold towels to cool off while we were sunbathing.
The restaurant is fabulous with excellent cuisine and top notch wines.
We went to the spa for a massage and all their ingredients are organic. The spa is certainly worth indulging in during your stay.
We stayed in a garden room with a plunge pool and private deck and it was clean, neat and has a simple modern look with all the luxuries-such as a flat screen tv and molton brown toiletries. The staff brings fresh fruit to the room- which was a nice touch.

I would recommend this boutique hotel to those looking for peace and quiet. This is not a place to come and party. I would recommend for honeymooners, couples and families that have well mannered children.
